Objective: This trial was conducted to investigate the effectiveness and superiority of combining liver and kidney tonics with extracorporeal shock wave therapy in the therapy of Liver and Kidney deficiency type knee osteoarthritis by observing the clinical efficacy of combining liver and kidney tonics with extracorporeal shock wave therapy, and to provide reference for clinical treatment of this disease. Methods: Ninety patients who were diagnosed with hepatic and renal deficiency type knee osteoarthritis in the orthopedic injury clinic of Shijiazhuang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to December 2022 were selected, and the method of random digital table was chosen to categorize the three treatment groups into: 30 patients in the combined group,30 patients in the traditional Chinese medicine group, and 30 patients in the shock wave group. The three groups were treated with liver and kidney tonic soup in the herbal group, extracorporeal shock wave in the shock wave group, and liver and kidney tonic soup combined with extracorporeal shock wave in the combined group. The treatment period was 4 weeks in all three groups, and the VAS score,TCM certificate mark and WOMAC score were registered before therapy,4 weeks after treatments and 4 weeks after completion of treatments, and the situation of adverse reactions were also recorded.SPSS25.0 hardware was used for the related statistical study of all data. Results: 1.Statistical analysis of the three groups of patients’ basic data such as gender, age and body mass index showed no statistical difference(P>0.05)and were comparable;there was no statistical difference(P>0.05)in the VAS scores,TCM evidence scores and WOMAC scores of the three groups of patients before treatment, which were comparable.2.VAS score: comparison between groups: after 4 weeks of treatment,VAS scales in the combination group were smaller than in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P<0.05),and there was no discrepancy between VAS ratings in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P>0.05).Four weeks after the end of treatments, the VAS scoring in the combined group was smaller than that in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P<0.05),and there was no difference between the VAS scores of the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P>0.05).Within-group comparison: the VAS scores of patients in all three groups decreased after 4 weeks of training and4 weeks after the conclusion of the training(P<0.05).3.WOMAC scores: comparison between groups: after 4 weeks of treatment, the various WOMAC marks in the combined group were fewer than those in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P<0.05),and there was no difference in the various WOMAC scores in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P>0.05).Four weeks after the end of therapy, the WOMAC scores in the combined group were smaller than those in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P<0.05),and there was no difference in the WOMAC scores in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P>0.05).Within-group comparison: the WOMAC scores were lower in all three groups after 4weeks of treatment and 4 weeks after the end of treatment(P<0.05).4.Chinese medicine symptoms scores: comparison between groups:after 4 weeks of treatment, the Chinese medicine symptoms scores in the combined group were smaller than those in the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P < 0.05),and there was no significant difference in the Chinese medicine symptoms scores of the shock wave group and the Chinese medicine group(P>0.05).Four weeks from the end of medical treatment, the TCM symptom scores in the combined group were smaller than those in the shock wave group and the TCM group(P<0.05),and there was no different between the TCM symptom scores in the shock wave group and the TCM group(P>0.05).Within-group comparison: all three groups showed a decrease in TCM symptom scores after 4 weeks of treated patients and 4 weeks after the end of therapy(P<0.05).5.Clinical efficacy analysis: the effective rate of the combined group was 93.3%,the effective rate of the Chinese medicine group was 86.7%,and the effective rate of the shock wave group was 83.3%,and the effective rate of the combined group was better than that of the Chinese medicine group and the shock wave group(P<0.05).Conclusion: Combining liver and kidney tonics with extracorporeal shock wave therapy can effectively improve joint mobility, reduce the pain and rigidity of joints, and improve the quality of life in patients with liver and kidney deficiency type knee osteoarthritis.Compared with extracorporeal shock wave and liver and kidney tonic soup alone, the treatment of knee osteoarthritis is more effective and worthy of clinical application.
