| Objectives:By analyzing the clinical characteristics of Ulcerative colitis(UC)patients with Cytomegalovirus(CMV)infection, exploring the related risk factors of CMV infection in UC patients, and providing reference and guidance for the prevention of CMV infection in clinical UC patients,it can help clinical workers to manage the disease of UC patients and the prevention and treatment of CMV infection in UC patients,so as to improve patient prognosis. Methods:Period from January 1,2019 to January 1,2023,the first people’s hospital and the first affiliated hospital of Kunming Medical University diagnosed UC hospitalized patients with CMV infection, the control group made 1:1 match, and the hospitalized patients without CMV infection at the same period.Clinical medical records were collected for all the enrolled patients.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0,and P <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:A total of 98 UC patients were included in this study, including 49 cases of UC with CMV infection(case group)and UC without CMV infection group(control group). The case and control groups were matched 1:1 according to age ± 3and gender, and the mean age of the enrolled patients was 50.3 ± 15.4 years,including56 patients(57.1%)males and 42 cases(42.9%)females.In the analysis of basic patient information and data,Between the two groups of UC patients,There was no significant difference in population type, educational level, and course of disease(month)(P>0.05);In the analysis of the patient’s past medical history information,The proportion of EBV infection rate and the history of smoking was significantly higher than the control group,The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);In the analysis of the clinical data related to the patient’s UC,Found that the range of UC lesion involvement,UC disease severity and UC Mayo endoscopic activity score were significantly higher than those in the control group,The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);In the analysis of drug treatment conditions in UC patients,Found a significantly higher use of steroid hormones in the case group than in the control group,The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);In the analysis of the laboratory examination data,Differences in leukocyte count, absolute neutrophil count, absolute monocyte count, hemoglobin, total protein,albumin,C-reactive protein levels, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were found between the two groups(P <0.05).Univariate Logistic analysis showed that Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)infection, smoking history, total colon involvement, severe disease, application of steroid hormones, total protein, and albumin may have increased the risk of CMV infection in UC patients;CMV infection in UC patients may have decreased hemoglobin, increased neutrophils and increased blood sedimentation(P <0.05).The results of multivariate Logistic-analysis showed that EBV infection, history of smoking, and severe disease may be independent risk factors for CMV infection in patients with UC(P <0.05).Conclusions:(1)EBV infection, smoking history, steroid hormones, albumin levels, extent of involvement of UC lesions, severity of UC disease, and Mayo endoscopic activity score were associated with CMV infection in UC patients.(2)UC patients with CMV infection had higher absolute neutrophil count and C-reactive protein levels, faster erythrocyte sedimentation rate and low hemoglobin level.(3)EBV infection, smoking history, and severe disease may be independent risk factors for CMV infection in UC patients. |
