| The COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on people’s mental health. Therefore,in the post pandemic era,it is very important to study how to enhance people’s sense of happiness and improve their emotions. This translation report selects the book You,Happier:The 7 Neuroscience Secrets of Feeling Good written by Daniel Amen as the translation material. After conducting brain scans on over 200000 people from 155 countries,Daniel discovered five main brain types and seven neuroscience secrets that affect happiness, and provided strategies for optimizing happiness. This book belongs to the field of physiological psychology. In this book, many attributive clauses impede the comprehension and translation of the source text. The author explored the translation of attributive clauses in this psychological book.Compared with attributive clauses in other texts, attributive clauses in psychological texts are more objective and logical. The research on the translation of attributive clauses in psychological texts is not much with uneven quality. Therefore, exploring the translation methods of attributive clauses in medical texts is necessary.Case study is adopted to analyze the translation methods of attributive clauses and explain the reasons for choosing according methods. After summarizing the translation methods from previous scholars such as Peng Ping,Sun Zhili, the author proposes a new analytical framework. That is,adopt combination, division and mixture to translate restrictive attributive clauses and use combination and division to translate non-restrictive ones.Translate clauses functioning as adverbials into Chinese adverbial clauses of cause, purpose, and result.Guided by this analytical framework, the author conducts translation practice. The author would classify the attributive clauses initially and use the framework to explain why the translation is appropriate. The study found that most of the attributive clauses in this text are non-restrictive attributive clauses guided by "which".The total number of restrictive and non-restrictive attributive clauses is roughly the same. The frequency of the three translation methods of restrictive attributive clauses is similar, with combination being the most.Among the nonrestrictive attributive clauses, division is the first choice.Attributive clauses that act as adverbial clauses are often translated into Chinese adverbial clauses that indicate purpose and result.By illustrating the characteristics of different strategies with examples, the author hopes to provide reference to the translation of attributive clauses in physiological psychology texts from English to Chinese. However,it should be noted that the translation of it may differ in other texts such as literary works, and as a result, the methods must be chosen flexibly in accordance with the features of the texts. |
