A Report On C-E Consecutive Interpreting Of "2022 Product Launch Of Xuanxing E-learning" Form The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

The interpreting practice is a mock on-site interpreting for the 2022 new product launch of Jiangsu Yunxuetang Network Technology Co.During the conference,the company introduces its new software SaaS service,content solution service,and E-learning services in corporate training,and the speaker presents the products using Power-point slides.The product launch is information-intensive,covering various areas such as the Internet,finance,education,and games,which may pose a challenge for the interpreter.The speaker speaks in standard Mandarin at a moderate pace;however,due to the speaker’s logical confusion and nervousness,the interpreter may encounter difficulties in understanding the content.This report examines the difficulties of interpreting on Internet technology by recording the interpreting of the selected material and tries to propose appropriate solutions guided by interpretive theory.The interpreter uses re-construction to solve the difficulty in interpreting Chinese sentences without subjects;takes appropriate sentence break and cohesion techniques(Salami technique)to solve the difficulty in interpreting Chinese compound sentences;adopts merging to deal with the difficulty in interpreting information-intensive contents;and uses explication to solve the difficulty in interpreting utterance with logical fuzziness.Through the analysis,the author learns that interpreters should have the sufficient interdisciplinary background knowledge to prepare for interpreting on Internet technology,deverbalize the information to convey it to the target language audience in a comprehensible expression,and review their work in time after the interpreting to improve their ability.In this mock interpreting,the interpreter could convey general meaning of the source language through relevant materials and complete the interpreting work.However,during the review,it was found that the interpreter still lacked in information detail fidelity and output fluency.She needed to improve her information extraction ability under the guidance of the interpretive theory and further strengthen her training in interpreting preparation and language mastery of both Chinese and English.
