| Huang Xinmian(1903-1935)was the founder and first chief editor of Women’s Monthly,a women’s publication,and one of the founders and operators of Women’s Bookstore,the first women-dominated bookstore,during the Republic of China.As a female editor and publishing worker,she awakened in the contradiction of the transition of the old and the new era,and devoted herself to "awakening compatriots from speech and developing women from wisdom" through books and publications [[] Luo Yanchun,Yao Guoyuan.Yao Mingda Wencun [M].Jiangsu: Jiangsu People’s Publishing House,2012:324.] With the help and financial support of her husband Yao Mingda,she relied on her own financial strength to establish a non-partisan women’s bookstore and Women’s Monthly,which did not pursue economic interests.Under her management,Women’s Monthly was welcomed by a large number of awakening new women due to its richness and progressiveness,and became one of the most important women’s publications in the society after the closure of Women’s Magazine.Women’s bookstore also published a large number of women-related books,especially the Women’s Library series,which provided a wealth of knowledge books and practical books for women at that time.In this process,Huang Xinmian also formed a series of editing and publishing thoughts with female characteristics,which clearly showed the ideological status of female editors and publishing workers in the 1920 s and 1930 s,highlighting the tenacious struggle of women awakening under complex environment and multiple contradictions.Based on Women’s Monthly Magazine and Yao Mingda’s Biography of Ms.Huang Xinmian,this thesis studies Huang Xinmian’s editing and publishing practices and thoughts.The first chapter introduces the research background,research significance,research status,research methods and innovation.The second chapter introduces Huang Xinmian’s life experience and time background.The third chapter combs Huang Xinmian’s editing and publishing practice in women’s bookstore and Women’s Monthly.The fourth chapter analyzes and summarizes Huang Xinmian’s editing and publishing thoughts,pointing out that under the editorial idea of "women’s issues should be solved by women",guided by patriotic thought,Huang Xinmian carried out his editing and publishing work with reader consciousness,education consciousness and gender equality ideology,and insisted on the practical editing strategy.Through Women’s Monthly and the women’s bookstore,it provides readers with a wealth of progressive knowledge and practical skills,seeking to make a practical contribution to women’s lives.The fifth chapter starts from Huang Xinmian’s editing and publishing experience,and analyzes the practical influence and enlightenment of Huang Xinmian’s editing and publishing practice.By means of content analysis,case study and other methods,this thesis studies Ms.Huang Xinmian,and investigates how she,as a female editor and publisher in the Republic of China,has unique female editing and publishing experience and editing and publishing thoughts.First,it hopes to fill the gap in Huang’s research to some extent;second,it hopes that through the research on Huang Xinmian,Can more clearly perspective the real thoughts and living conditions of female editors and publicists during the Republic of China. |
