Detective fiction,a genre of fiction imported from the West,garners ever wider popularity in China thanks to its reform and opening-up policy and its readiness of inclusiveness of diversified ideas and cultures.Due to difference and discrepancy in culture,thinking,tradition and ideology,Chinese detective fictions are different from western ones in character design and structure layout,prompting an urgent communication of this genre of literature.Out of this context,the author takes detective novels as the materials for this translation.The translated material is selected from Death Magic(A total of 23 chapters)by C.S.Quinn,a best-selling British author.The detective fiction features itself with complicated and confusing plots and thrilling scenes.In the translation of such texts,attention should be paid to the reception and reaction of readers so that they would have authentic experience.The translator,after meticulous consideration,chooses accordingly reception aesthetics as the guiding theory.Under the guidance of the theory,translators take Chinese readers as the center of translation,and give full consideration to their language habits,acceptability,and expectations.In this translation practice,the translator analyzes from three aspects:meeting the expectations’ horizon,narrowing the aesthetic distance and handling with text blank.Based on this,the author tries to fill the gap of meaning and eliminate the reading disorder of the target readers.It is necessary to judge the readers’ expectations’ horizon in advance,then take into account the readers’ acceptance ability and aesthetic tendency.Only in this way can better integrate the readers expectations’ horizon into the translated work. |
