| Nuo ceremony is a religious ritual activity created by ancient ancestors for exorcism,dispelling epidemics,and offering prayers to the gods for blessings.With the development of time,Nuo ceremony has gradually evolved into a new form of expression-Nuo dance.It is centered on folk beliefs,originated from witchcraft,and expressed through dance.It has been passed down from primitive times to the present day,becoming a unique sacrificial ceremony of the Chinese nation.Fujian has a strong tradition of "worshiping witches and offering sacrifices".The folk culture of belief in witches and Nuo ceremony is prevalent in Fujian,and it has evolved into distinct characteristics of "Holy Generals" Nuo dance,especially in southern Fujian.As a local Nuo culture in Fujian,it is deeply rooted in the cultural soil of folk beliefs in southern Fujian and has spread to Taiwan,becoming a common cultural bond of the CrossStraits,with important significance for the study of folk culture in southern Fujian and cultural identity of the Cross-Straits.This topic focuses on the research object of "Holy Generals" Nuo dance in southern Fujian,and comprehensively uses research methods from multiple disciplines such as history,folklore,art,and cultural anthropology to analyze its historical context,artistic characteristics,and cultural connotations from multiple angles,in order to showcase the interactive relationship between "Holy Generals" Nuo dance and folk culture in southern Fujian.Firstly,starting from the historical context,the formation and development of the "Holy Generals" Nuo dance in Southern Fujian is investigated and summarized,revealing the intertwined cultural circle of Nuo traditions between Eastern Fujian,Southern Fujian,and Taiwan.Secondly,based on field research,typical cases of the "Holy Generals" Nuo dance ritual performances in Southern Fujian are selected,and the intrinsic artistic features and artistic value are analyzed from the aspects of movements,stage settings,and music.Finally,employing semiotics as a methodological approach,the cultural connotations embedded in the "Holy Generals" Nuo dance of Southern Fujian are interpreted,and the issues of inheritance and development of the Nuo dance art are pondered upon.Through in-depth exploration of the artistic features and culture of the "Holy Generals" Nuo dance in Fujian and Taiwan,this research aims to clarify the traditional folk cultural system that connects the Cross-Straits,and make a modest contribution to enhancing cultural identity and promoting the excellent traditional Chinese culture among the people on both sides of the Straits. |
