English writing skill is one of the basic skills of English learning and it can effectively promote the internalization of language knowledge.Thus the importance of English writing in English teaching is obvious.However,the author found that the teaching of English writing was not optimistic.Especially in rural area,the problem is extremely obvious.This study adopts the action research method to explore the influence of readingto-write in junior high school students’ English writing of rural area and mainly explores the following two research questions: 1)What changes will be made to students’ interest in English writing by applying reading-to-write in English writing class in junior high school? 2)What changes will be made to students’ English writing performance by applying reading-to-write in English writing class in junior high school?There are 56 ninth-grade students participated in the study from a junior high school of rural area in Zunyi,Guizhou Province.Tests,questionnaires,and interviews were used as research tools.In each round of Action Research,the model of problem discovery-action plan-implementation-reflection and evaluation is adopted.Before the action research,the researcher analyzed questionnaires and interviews to understand students’ basic English writing status.In the first round of action research,reading-towrite teaching model is used in English writing teaching.In the second round of action research,the researcher made adjustments and implemented another action plan based on the results of the first round of action research.The results show: firstly,the reading-to-write teaching model has significantly improved students’ interest in English writing which mainly manifested in the students’ enhanced motivation of English writing.Secondly,students’ English writing performance has been improved which mainly manifested in the improvement of the students’ English writing content,vocabulary,grammar,sentence structure and connection.
