The Application Of Cornelius Baba’s Oil Painting Language In Creative Practice

Cornelius Baba,as an outstanding Romanian artist in the 20th century,did not give up painting in turbulent times.He cared about the people and created many intriguing works with realistic figures as subjects.His works adhere to the traditional realistic techniques on the basis of the integration of modernist expression methods,creating a unique individual oil painting language works,so that the content,form,language,techniques are highly unified.Therefore,from the works of Cornelius Baba I understand Cornelius Baba’s humanistic feelings of compassion and the tenacious working masses depicted in his paintings,and study Cornelius Baba’s oil painting language and emotional expression to integrate into the author’s oil painting creation.This paper is mainly divided into three parts.Firstly,it expounds Cornelius Baba’s artistic history,and analyzes and feels the influence of different environmental background experiences on the transformation of Cornelius Baba’s painting style by summarizing his art history and combining his oil paintings.Secondly,the paper studies the characteristics of oil painting language in Cornelius Baba’s works,and summarizes the modeling language of "conveying spirit through form",the allegorical color in light and shade,the unrestrained brushwork and the subjective sentiment through Rembrandt and his oil painting works which inherit the tradition and integrate the innovation.Finally,by summarizing the language of Cornelius Baba’s oil painting and applying it to the author’s oil painting,starting from the creative conception,the process of creative practice and the painting steps of large paintings,the paper respectively involves conveying spirit through inspiration brought by Cornelius Baba’s oil painting,the material collection and material preparation,the reference of the photo text before the creation,and the explanation of the relationship between draft modeling,composition and black,white and gray,and the choice of color.At the same time,the paper analyzes the application of mask dyeing technique in the main character and the reference of Cornelius Baba’s modeling,color and brushstroke oil painting artistic language.These three parts are what the work thinks,feels and does.Through the study of the oil painting language of Cornelius Baba,taking the human as the mirror,drawing lessons from the oil painting language and emotional expression suitable for the author,and influencing the author to apply it in the creation.
