The Relationship Between Character Strengths,stress Evaluation Style And Athletic Performance Of Swimers

Character advantage is one of the important topics in the field of positive psychology.Its core is to focus on the positive qualities of individuals,and to apply and develop them,so as to help individuals realize their potential and obtain happiness.At present,many foreign researchers have done a lot of theoretical and practical research on character advantage,especially in school education and family upbringing.In the field of sports,scholars have also emphasized the research value and potential of this discipline in athletes,and believe that helping athletes develop and use character strengths is of great value to the positive growth and athletic performance of athletes.In view of this,this study used the 《Chinese virtues questionnaire CVQ-96》、《general self-efficacy scale》、《athletes face stress evaluation scale》、《future self continuity》inventory of nationwide 1115 professional sports teams and sports college athletes as testing object,mainly discussed:(1)the Chinese virtues questionnaire(CVQ-96)in the applicability of the athletes;(2)The relationship between personality advantages,stress evaluation methods,future self-continuity,self-efficacy and athletic performance of swimmers.It provides theoretical value reference for athletes,coaches and related practitioners,and further provides research basis for the construction of athletes’ character advantage path.The results are as follows:(1)In the Chinese athletes group,the Chinese strength questionnaire has high internal consistency coefficient(0.904-0.938)and retestment reliability(0.786-0.865),indicating that the questionnaire has good psychometrics characteristics in the Chinese athletes group,and can be used to measure the individual strength of Chinese athletes.(2)In terms of gender,male athletes are higher than female athletes in the dimension of willpower in character advantage,and there is no significant difference between male and female athletes in the dimension of affinity and vitality.There were no significant gender differences in stress evaluation style,self-efficacy and future self-continuity.(3)In the athletic performance,affinity,vitality and willpower were significantly positively correlated with the athletic grade.It shows that the three strengths will be enhanced with the improvement of sports performance and experience.After the post-comparison test,there was no significant difference in affinity between national first-level athletes and national master athletes(0.832).There is no significant difference(0.055)in vitality strength between national second-class athletes and national first-class athletes.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between personality advantage,self-efficacy and athletic performance of swimmers.Personality superiority can positively predict their athletic performance.(5)Swimmer stress evaluation methods,the future self continuity,performance significantly correlated to each other.There was a significant positive correlation between challenge evaluation methods and future self-continuity and athletic performance,and a significant negative correlation between injury evaluation methods and threat evaluation methods and future self-continuity and athletic performance.Stress evaluation method can predict the movement of the positive and the negative results.(6)The self-efficacy and future self-continuity of swimmers have significant multiple mediating effects on personality advantages,stress evaluation methods and athletic performance.Personality advantage indirectly predicts athletic performance through self-efficacy;The stress assessment method indirectly predicts athletic performance through future self-continuity.
