English reading teaching is an important link to cultivate learners’ language ability,thinking ability,and improve their reading literacy.Reading strategy is an important skill to promote learners from low order thinking stage to high order thinking stage.In the current middle school reading teaching,due to the teacher’s single reading mode and insufficient guidance of English reading strategies,learners are unable to truly parse text and solve reading problems.As a teaching model with strong guidance,purpose and control,explicit teaching model enables teachers to flexibly control the classroom,adjust the teaching progress according to learners’ responses,and help learners acquire reading strategies in an effective input way to finally solve reading problems.Therefore,this thesis applies the reading strategy teaching model to reading teaching,with a view to promoting learners’ in-depth acquisition,improving learning efficiency and solving reading problems by helping learners understand input.Based on the hourglass theory,attention hypothesis theory and input hypothesis theory,this thesis uses experimental methods such as literature research method,experiment method,questionnaire method,test method and interview method.In addition,77 learners in grade 7 of Su Yu Middle School were selected as subjects for the experimental research,including the questionnaire on the acquisition of reading strategies,the test thesis on reading comprehension ability,the questionnaire on reading character and the semi-structured interview outline.This study mainly discusses three questions: First,what is the impact of explicit reading strategy teaching model on reading strategy acquisition of junior middle school English learners? Second,what is the impact of explicit reading strategy teaching model on reading comprehension of junior high school English learners? This question includes four sub-questions,which are: What is the influence of explicit reading strategy teaching model on detail extraction ability,reasoning and judgment ability,gist generalization ability and word meaning guessing ability of junior middle school English learners? Third,what is the impact of explicit reading strategy teaching model on the reading character of junior middle school English students.This question focuses on the following two sub-questions: How does explicit reading strategy teaching model influence junior middle school English learners’ reading experience and reading habits?The research finds that,first,explicit teaching mode of reading strategies has a positive impact on learners’ acquisition of reading strategies.From the experimental results,there are significant differences in the sharing of the overall items and reading strategies before and after testing,among which,the mean difference of the overall before and after testing is-.742,and the significance is.000.The experimental class usually uses reading strategies from the third level(2.5-3.3)of reading strategy acquisition before testing to the fourth level(3.5-4.4).There was no significant difference in the control class.Secondly,explicit reading strategy teaching mode has positive influence on learners’ reading comprehension ability.The mean difference before and after the experiment was-3.868,with a significance of.000.In addition,the significance of each sub-dimension of reading comprehension except detail extraction ability was.000,while there was no significant difference between the control class.Thirdly,explicit reading strategy teaching mode has positive influence on learners’ reading character.According to the experimental results,the mean difference before and after the experiment is-8.86,with a significance of.000.In addition,the sub-dimension significance of reading character in the experimental class is.000,while there is no significant difference in the control class.This study has the following three implications: First,teachers should strengthen the awareness of reading strategy guidance and further promote learners’ reading strategies and improve reading comprehension.Second,teachers promote students to enhance their awareness of using reading strategies,and promote students to shift from temporary learning knowledge to permanent learning methods,so as to enhance their reading character.Third,according to students’ level,teachers carefully design explicit reading strategy teaching model to evaluate teaching and promote students’ reflective learning.
