In modern society, audiences increasingly demand higher quality music, focusing not only on pitch and rhythm but also on the emotional expression within the songs. However, our study of recording work characteristics has found that the emotion in the voice is the only element that cannot be altered through technical means.Since the expression of emotion is closely linked to the singer’s performance state, singers should strive to maintain as positive a performance state as possible to fully express emotions. This article investigates factors influencing the singer’s performance state in the recording studio and explores ways to regulate it,drawing certain conclusions.Through opportunities for practice in the recording studio, research literature, and interviews with recording professionals, the author found that a singer’s performance state in the studio is mainly influenced by two factors. The first is internal factors that can be controlled by the singer themselves, such as preparation work and negative psychological issues during studio performance. These influences can often be mitigated through practice and training. The second is external influences resulting from environmental constraints, such as recording equipment and the coordination between the singer and the sound engineer.Although these influences can be lessened with certain techniques, they ultimately need to be eliminated gradually through the accumulation of experience. Therefore,it is necessary for singers in the recording studio to prepare adequately for different performance influences. When recording music in the studio, singers should prepare sufficiently, mastering effective psychological regulation techniques and certain recording-related knowledge.Only with ample preparation, further supplemented by practical experience, can they create better performance states and record music that is more contextually appropriate. In addition, singers should possess effective communication skills to work with sound engineers, build good cooperative relationships, and actively seek innovative recording methods to create an environment and atmosphere more conducive to their performance, aiming for optimal performance states.
