The Dual Variations Of The Expressions Of “National” And “Chinese Nation” In Red Newspapers And Periodicals(1921-1949)

The construction of the modern Chinese state during the Republic of China is a process of the dual identity of "national" and "Chinese nation",in which the identity of both is very important.The expression of "national" in the red press during this period is not only the embodiment of the construction process of the identity itself,but also the reflection of the rich track and development of the Chinese nation’s community consciousness.Generally speaking,in the records of the Red press,before the outbreak of the all-out War of Resistance,the descriptions of "people" and "Chinese nation" both appeared frequently in the red press,and even the words related to "people" were more frequent.After that,with the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,the expression of the word "Chinese nation" in the press began to increase and keep rising,gradually surpassing the record and description of the word "national".In this case,through the "national" and "Chinese nation" expression and shape of the track of discrimination;By virtue of the different emphasis on identity construction of the concepts of "national" and "Chinese nation" in various fields of the Red press,the construction of dual variations of the two identities is not only a fact,but also a reasonable existence at that time.To be specific,the expression and attention of the core content of "national" in the red press mainly focus on the period before and after the founding of the Communist Party of China to the outbreak of the September 18 Incident,and pay equal attention to the real living conditions of individual citizens and their needs in social life related to national political movement,organization operation and other specific social life.After the outbreak of the "September 18 Incident" and the beginning of the full-scale Anti-Japanese War,the expression of the core content of "Chinese nation" mainly focused on the interpretation of the concept of "Chinese nation",exciting the national spirit,strengthening the national unity,emphasizing the whole nation’s Anti-Japanese War,advocating the national united front,and other aspects of the record.At this time,the word "national" was interwoven with the word "Chinese nation" in newspapers and periodicals,but gradually disappeared,and the expression frequency of the word "Chinese nation" was constantly rising and prominent.By exploring the historical reasons behind the rise and fall of the two,this paper analyzes the historical process and mechanism of national character blending into the consciousness of Chinese nation community,so as to seek the inclusive and stored national identity in the consciousness of Chinese nation community.At the same time,it is an inevitable historical choice to analyze the self-consistency of the modern Chinese state and respond to the retreat of the identity of "national",the upsurge of the expression of "Chinese nation" and the continuous enrichment of the connotation of the consciousness of community of the Chinese nation.
