A Study Of Self-supporting Approaches In Contemporary Yunnan Han Buddhist Temple

While Buddhism aims at a surreal pursuit of faith,its development as a social entity cannot be achieved without the guarantee of a material foundation.The temple economy is an important part of the development of Buddhism,and only by clarifying the various factors affecting the temple economy can we gain a more intuitive understanding of the development of Buddhism.Throughout history,the rise and fall of Han Buddhism has been inextricably linked to the development of the temple economy.As China’s socialist market economy continues to develop,the development of Buddhism in the new era also faces problems of commercialization and excessive secularization.What’s your opinion about these issues?How to maintain the spirit of Buddhism while actively adapting contemporary Han Buddhism to the socialist system,forming a Chinese model of self-support for Han Buddhism,and becoming a factor of social harmony is the key to this study.This study explores the historical and practical background of the emergence of contemporary Buddhist self-support,the factors affecting self-support,and the problems that may arise from the perspective of temple economic development.As a righteous doctrine in line with the spirit of Mahayana Buddhism’s "universal benefit",Sanhe Temple is able to satisfy its own development while devoting itself to charity and social service and expanding its influence.This study is divided into four main parts: the first part gives a general overview of the understanding of Buddhist self-support,explores the changes in self-support in a historical context,and raises the issue of commercialization that contemporary self-support may face.The second part analyzes and explains the subject of self-support,the content of self-support,and the supporting elements of self-support,while the third part examines the self-support of Sanhe Temple from the perspective of expenditure patterns.The last part explores both positive and negative aspects of the feasibility of the Sanhe self-support model,and responds to the full text in terms of conclusions,presenting the author’s thoughts and outlook on the issue of contemporary Han Buddhist self-support.The main conclusions of this study are as follows: First,Sanhe Temple’s model of self-support,with faith as the core,the system as the guarantee,and external conditions as the help,is successful and has exemplary significance in the context of contemporary Han Buddhism;second,the core of contemporary Buddhist self-support is Mahayana Buddhism’s "universal benefit to all" and "realistic pure land.Secondly,the core of contemporary Buddhist self-support is the Mahayana Buddhist spirit of"universal benefit to all" and "realistic pure land",and the key to the healthy development of Buddhist self-support is to follow the Mahayana Buddhist spirit and spend the self-support expenditure in a way that is beneficial to the building of temple and monks,social harmony,and the peace and happiness of all sentient beings.When both income and expenditure are in line with the Mahayana spirit of self-benefit and the conditions of the time and environment,the income and expenditure will form a gainful cycle and strengthen the temple self-support.
