| During the shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Song Gaozong’s calligraphy of Xiaojing was carved in stone. There are scattered records of the incident in historical books Song Huiyao Jigao and Yuhai. The Stone Carvings of Written by Emperor Gaozong of Song Dynasty has as much value as Nansong Taixue Shijing.Unfortunately, not many people have done research on this stone carving.Zhang Guogan’s LiDai Shijing Kao collected historical data and found that five local schools carved the Xiaojing written by Song Gaozong into stone, but did not discuss it in detail.Because of the lack of research, people often make mistakes when talking about this stone carving. This thesis investigates the relevant historical materials, combined with the stone carvings collected in Yangxin County Museum,to study the process, reasons, collection, significance and value of this Xiaojing stone carvings. In 1139,Emperor Gaozong agreed with Qin Hui to carve Xiaojing stone. In 1143,he agreed with Qin Di to distribute rubbings to local schools. In 1144,he listened to Wang Bo and asked local schools to carve Xiaojing stone as well.Emperor Gaozong’s main purpose was to promote loyalty and filial piety and silence opposition to peace talks. The stone carving was thought to have been mutilated, but the author has discovered a complete version in the Yangxin County Museum, along with a description by Qin Hui.By comparison,it can be found that the stone Xiaojing belongs to the system of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang and is an indispensable part of the study of the version of Xiaojing. Moreover,we should change the traditional idea that the stone carving of Xiaojing written by Emperor Gaozong should be a part of Nansong Taixue Shijing. The Xiaojing written by Emperor Gaozong was carved in local schools, and rubbings were distributed to local officials and students, which should have been widely circulated. But its influence on later generations is very small.Since the Ming Dynasty, rubbings of this stone carving have been in circulation, but with less influence and almost no attention. The stone carvings of Xiaojing written by Emperor Gaozong are of great value and need our attention and research. |
