In the 1980s and 1990s,Chinese documentary photography reached a climax and gradually found its own discourse system,that is,from the grand national ideological discourse system to the lens aimed at the public.During this period,social development was accelerating,people’s ideas were constantly open,and the demand for photographic photos was gradually increasing at the whole social level,which promoted the development of documentary photographers to a certain extent.Documentary photography began to try to touch some taboo areas.Lu Guang is one of the few freelance photographers in China.Since the 1990s,he has made a name for himself at home and abroad with his pain-filled "grey shots" of social issues such as drug addicts,AIDS villages and pollution.Three times winner of the World Press Photo Competition(Netherlands)in his photographic practice,he is Eugene.The first winner of the Smith Humanitarian Photography Award in China’s mainland.He used his own camera to record a series of events of great social value.With the power of the camera,he presented the social focal issues in the way of images to the public,which triggered the attention of the society and prompted the government to introduce corresponding countermeasures.Lu Guang et al.’s model of "documentary photographers taking photos--photos attracting attention--government doing something--improving social reality" has realized the benign interaction between images and society and reflected the power of images.This paper takes Lu Guang’s photographic practice as the research object and starts from three aspects: his photographic practice,his photographic works and his photographic concept.The specific content involves the staged sorting of Lu Guang’s personal photographic practice,the analysis of his works,the interpretation of his photographic concept and the value generated by his photographic practice.The third chapter to the sixth chapter is the focus of the study.Firstly,the text analysis of Lu Guang’s documentary photography works is carried out,from the content of the work to analyze the theme connotation,from the form of expression to analyze the use of photographic language,from the visual expression to analyze the image information,and combining the image narrative text narrative analysis of his photography works.Secondly,the specific content of lu Guang’s documentary photography concept is further explored,from which the unique value orientation of his documentary photography concept is interpreted.Finally,it summarizes the value of his photographic works from three aspects of society,humanity and literature,analyzes some problems exposed in the process of his photographic practice,and gives a realistic reflection on lu Guang’s documentary photographic practice.Through research,we have seen the driving force brought by the reform of The Times,the power of the people at the bottom of the society and the public after the event was revealed,and the professional spirit of Lu Guang who was brave enough to take responsibility.His practical experience has certain enlightening significance for today’s news photographers,and his success has certain reference value for the plight and outlet of this group of freelance photographers.In addition,the lack of professional photographic knowledge and photography ethics exposed by Lu Guang also have certain reference for the future development of documentary photography.
