| Broadly speaking,postcolonial critical discourse is part of postmodern theory and is subordinate to the complex critique theory of postmodernism.Under the influence of the critical theory of modernity,postcolonial theory began to reflect on and deconstruct Western modernity.There is an intricate complicity between European colonialism and the history of Western modernity,and the efforts of postcolonial intellectuals have provided modern scholars with a multi-angle and interdisciplinary perspective on the problems of modernity,which is in line with the characteristics of contemporary knowledge and academic requirements.It can be said that the critical discourse of modernity has important significance for the expansion of the topics,objects of criticism,and theoretical discourse of postcolonial criticism discourse.This paper attempts to deepen the issue of modernity from a postcolonial perspective on the basis of an overall understanding of the critical discourse of postcolonialism and the critical discourse of modernity.The article is divided into four parts,one,through combing the concept of modernity in the historical context,pointing out the background of Western modernity and the limitations of the concept itself,and the history and continuation of the critical tradition of the problem of modernity that it has triggered;second,it clarifies the basic problems and theoretical inspirations obtained by postcolonial discourse from the theories of Foucault,Derrida,Marx and others,as well as the resources and theoretical inspirations obtained from critical thinking;third,the problem direction of the critique of modernity in postcolonial theory is discussed.On the basis of a critical gaze at the discourse of postcolonial criticism,it makes a brief evaluation of its constructiveness and limitations;fourth,it analyzes the current situation of theoretical development,touching on the assumption of transcending modernity,cultural issues in the global context,the situation in China,and the new impact emerging in the context of the epidemic. |
