English writing is a basic skill in English learning.The cultivation of students’ English writing ability is the key and difficult point in English teaching.Since the process writing was introduced into the second language writing teaching in the 1970 s,one of important parts of writing teaching is feedback.However,there are few researches on teacher written feedback and peer written feedback in senior high school at home and abroad.Therefore,this research took Xi’an Foreign language School as an example to investigate teacher written feedback and peer written feedback in senior high school.In this research,5 senior high school English teachers and 5 senior students were interviewed.In addition,questionnaire surveys were conducted among 180 students and students’ compositions were analyzed,in order to study the implementation of teacher written feedback and peer written feedback,as well as students’ attitudes and expectations towards them.The results show that methods of written feedback are relatively single.Students expect comprehensive,specific and positive written feedback.Moreover,students’ attitude towards teacher written feedback is better than that towards peer written feedback.In addition,teachers and students ignore feedback on content and structure of composition.And students’ revision and rewriting of composition is not satisfactory.Therefore,in view of the problems in teacher written feedback and peer written feedback,the author gives corresponding suggestions in order to optimize the teaching of English writing and help students improve English writing ability.
