Research On The Construction Of Chinese "New Power" Director Space

In recent years,a group of young creators have emerged in China’s film industry.Most of them come from platforms such as "first Xining Youth Film Exhibition".They have made a blockbuster with their pioneering experimental debut and attracted the attention of the industry.On the one hand,they are difficult to be classified into the "intergenerational" division mode of Chinese films because of their different backgrounds;On the other hand,the distinctive style of their works makes them not equal to the commercial film directors emerging after the "sixth generation".Their distinctive and unique artistic style,as well as their outstanding achievements in word-of-mouth and box office,indicate the emergence of a creative force representing the future.In order to distinguish these creators from confusing creative groups such as "the seventh generation","cutting-edge directors" and "new generation directors",this paper first confirms the research object and its naming method as "new power" directors,so as to carry out further research and discussion.Focusing on the investigation of the construction of the spatial image of the "new power" director,this paper is divided into three chapters: the first chapter further finds that the spatial consciousness highlighted by the "new power" director does not coincide with the trend of spatial turn in the theoretical circle in the context of the failure of the "intergenerational" division method of Chinese films.It is precisely under the dual effects of the changes of the times and the germination of personal consciousness that the construction of spatial images has become a method to help them jump out of the constraints of collective ideology implied in "intergenerational" discourse;The second chapter will summarize and analyze the characteristics of "new power" director’s spatial image from two aspects: geographical characteristics and internal spiritual exploration.They not only gathered together into a "new wave of region" with their hometown as the center at the geographical level,which brought real geo cultural characteristics to Chinese films,but also extended to the spiritual dimension to explore the relationship between internal spirit and external reality by means of the construction of heterotopia,the suture of surreal elements and the spatialization of time;The third chapter will analyze how the director of "new power" expands the realistic reference and aesthetic function of spatial image through the methods of character action,audio-visual situation and reinterpretation of nationality.This paper takes the spatial image as the starting point to observe the creation of "new power" directors,in order to clarify their unique coordinates in the history of Chinese film development,first regard it as the rise of a new creative group,fill the lack of research on "new power" directors,and analyze their bold construction of spatial image to see through the real appearance of current Chinese society.The article holds that entering the creation of "new power" directors from space can not only find a new narrative path of Chinese films,but also have positive significance for the ecological development of Chinese films.
