Marcuse’s Theory Of Consumption Alienation Inherits And Develops Marx’s Theory Of Alienation

In the Western society,the research on alienation has attracted the attention of many scholars.Especially,once Marx’s alienation theory was proposed,it has become a hot issue in the academic circle.Western Marxists have launched a profound critique of alienation in the field of ideology centered on alienation.Marcuse,as an integrator of the study of alienation,creatively puts forward a new system of alienation theory on the basis of inheriting Marx ’ s alienation theory and combining with the characteristics of late capitalist society,and reveals various alienation phenomena in consumer society.How to correctly understand the development trend of capitalist society,how to inherit and develop Marx ’ s alienation theory under the new historical conditions,how to maintain the critical spirit of Marxism,is the problem that people have been concerned about,but also the main problem of this paper.This paper discusses Marcuse ’ s inheritance and development of Marx ’ s alienation theory,and discusses its experience and enlightenment to contemporary society.Firstly,starting from the background,ideological origin and main content of Marx ’ s alienation theory,this paper lays the ideological foundation for the study of alienation in Western Marxism.Secondly,by discussing Marcuse ’ s interpretation of Marx ’ s labor alienation,the extension of fetishism and consumption alienation,the inheritance and development between the two alienation theories are discussed.Finally,it expounds the significance of studying Marcuse ’ s consumption alienation theory to the inheritance and development of Marx ’ s alienation theory.From a theoretical point of view,the inheritance and development of Marx ’s alienation theory enriches the alienation theory of Western Marxism,deepens the critical function of philosophy,and further develops the dimension of Marxist practice,so as to clearly see the progress and limitations of Marcuse ’ s consumption alienation theory,and provides theoretical support for the objective evaluation of his alienation thought.From a practical point of view,the inheritance and development of Marx ’ s alienation theory inspires us to correctly understand the duality of science and technology,establish a positive and healthy consumption concept,and adhere to the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization,so as to realize the free and comprehensive development of human beings.
