| Burial objects are one of the most unusual and rich sources of ancient art in China,reflecting not only the ancient concept of life and death,but also the political,economic and religious cultural environment of a certain era.The Greenware funerary jar with five spouts is a mixture of Confucianism,Taoism,Buddhism,primitive religions and other ancient ideas designed for burial,featuring five or six spouts on the shoulder of the vase,mostly from the Song dynasty.Current archaeological material suggests that Song dynasty greenware funerary jar with five spouts were mainly excavated in the Wuyue region,with the Longquan kilns having the largest number of it.The rapid development of porcelain production in the Longquan region during the Song dynasty,its relatively isolated geographical location and special regional culture left their mark on the greenware funerary jar with five spouts.This paper takes archaeological excavations and the Longquan kiln’s greenware funerary jar with five spouts in the museum’s collection as the main focus of its research,combining documentary sources with specific objects for analysis.It begins with a brief description of the background,purpose and significance of the research.Then,through the analysis of the five-linked jars,the soul vase,the polygonal jar and the dish-mouth vase,we sort out the origins of the design of the greenware funerary jar with five spouts.This is followed by an analysis of specific wares,focusing on the evolution of the greenware funerary jar at Longquan kilns during the Song dynasty.The design features of the vases are then analysed in terms of their shape and structure,decorative techniques and decorative motifs.Finally,it explores the ancient funerary customs behind the greenware funerary jar with five spouts.The greenware funerary jar with five spouts is a carrier for the ancient concept of ceramic design and reflects the rich creativity and aesthetic interest of the ancients. |
