In the context of the Internet, sound as a communication medium is undergoing unprecedented innovation and competition, and in the 5G era, radio dramas are expanding from traditional radio stations to Internet platforms. The production and dissemination of web radio dramas are mainly carried out through the Internet, based on the language of the actors and actresses, and the sound and music are used to support the narrative development and convey the emotions of the characters in the dramas. As a new force in the sound media, web radio dramas are becoming more and more demanding as people’s living standards continue to rise and they pay more attention to spiritual needs. With the highly developed Internet technology in today’s society, the development of web radio drama can be described as both opportunities and challenges. The challenge is that some web radio drama enthusiasts without professional training have joined the production of web radio dramas, which has led to the uneven quality of web radio dramas. In addition, some web radio dramas have vulgar language and even ambiguous language due to lax content control, which may mislead the audience to a certain extent. This paper takes the web radio drama "Epidemic" as the research object, and aims to discuss the standardization and individuation of the characters’ language in the web radio drama, which can help improve the quality of the web radio drama. This also mentions the use of emerging technologies in web radio dramas to help the personalized expression of web radio drama characters’ language, which can make the audience’s experience stronger, improve the audience’s stickiness, and promote the flourishing of web radio dramas.
