A Study On The Empathy Narrative Of The Poverty Alleviation Documentary "No Poverty Land(Season 1)"

Since the eighteen Party’s leadership,under the firm leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core,China has made decisive progress in tackling poverty alleviation.Since General Secretary Xi Jinping’s investigation and investigation in 2013,he has pushed the poverty alleviation strategy further to the direction of "targeted poverty alleviation".In the past years,the dissemination and research of documentary with the theme of poverty alleviation have been constantly emerging.Among them,the documentary "No Poverty Land(Season 1)",shot by TVB News,focuses on the stories of small people,and uses empathy narration to present the national poverty alleviation policies and measures to the public in a narrative way.Its rich content and skills enhance the visibility and appeal of the documentary,which has been recognized and loved by the majority of the people,and has aroused people’s attention to China around the world Thoughts on poverty alleviation.This article uses the poverty alleviation documentary "No Poverty Land(Season1)" as a research sample,using literature research methods,case analysis methods,and text analysis methods to explore the sympathetic narrative framework and strategies of documentary films,in an attempt to provide practical experience for the creation of similar documentary films,promote theoretical integration and innovation,and enhance the depth of documentary narrative research.Based on empathy theory and frame analysis theory,this article analyzes the empathy narrative framework of "No Poverty Land(Season 1)".The research found that the empathy narrative framework of "No Poverty Land(Season 1)" consists of an emotional empathy narrative framework,a cognitive empathy narrative framework,and a empathy concern narrative framework.The emotional empathy narrative framework mainly uses emotional infection narrative and emotional sharing narrative to promote bottom-up emotional resonance;The cognitive empathy narrative framework uses viewpoint selection narrative and empathy attribution narrative to achieve audience empathy from top to bottom at the cognitive level;Empathy focuses on the narrative framework,mainly through the setting of topics to trigger empathy,and awaken the audience’s altruistic emotions,thereby promoting the emergence of pro social behavior.Under the guidance of the theory of empathy communication,this article analyzes the following empathy narrative strategies in "No Poverty Land(Season 1)" : to strengthen the audience’s role identity experience from a composite narrative perspective;Rendering the audience’s identification experience in stories and details;Promoting the formation of consensus through causal and comparative narrative logic;Promoting the expression and contrast of emotions with an umbrella narrative structure;Use audio-visual language to increase empathy.
