Research On Yuan Mei's Calligraph

Yuan Mei was a famous poet and litterateur in Qing Dynasty,and also an outstanding representative of "Nature Theory".So far,the academic researches on Yuan Mei mainly focus on his achievements in literature and poetry,but there are few researches on his calligraphy and touchstone,which have not attracted enough attention.Therefore,this paper will carry out an in-depth study on Yuan Mei’s achievements in calligraphy and touchstone.Yuan Mei was not known for his good writing in his life,but he read poetry and wrote poems all his life,which enriched his writing and calligraphy.From the existing manuscripts of Yuan Mei’s handwritten poems,we find that his small letters are neat and elegant,and his calligraphy is elegant and natural.His ink shows a special aesthetic feeling of leisure and natural.He also had close contacts with many famous painters and calligraphers,such as Yao Nai,Zheng Banqiao,Li Fangying and Luo Pin.In addition,he was fond of ancient stone artifacts and good at collecting them.This kind of cultural activities also continuously nourished his calligraphy works,which made the ink marks on the end of his pen appear on the paper.This paper will take Yuan Mei’s book-learning activities as a clue,and through in-depth study of Yuan Mei’s original works,investigate his book-learning thoughts,artistic pursuit and achievements in calligraphy and stone,so as to present Yuan Mei’s book-learning achievements to the present people as much as possible.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part mainly reviews Yuan Mei’s life,including his family background,friends and writings,including Yao Nai,Zheng Banqiao,Li Fangying and Luo Pin.The second part mainly discusses Yuan Mei’s research on the stone.This part is further divided into Yuan Mei’s search activities and Yuan Mei’s research achievements in the field of touchstone.The third part discusses Yuan Mei’s calligraphy art.In this part,by carefully reading Yuan Mei’s original works and collecting Yuan Mei’s calligraphy works,the author extracts his calligraphy view and calligraphy art characteristics.The fourth part expounds the enlightenment of Yuan Mei’s calligraphy to contemporary people.
