The Research On “Jiuhua Poetry Collection”

Chen Yan(1240-1299),who was born in Qingyang,Chizhou,Anhui Province,can be called Qingyin or Jiuhuashan people.The poet has read extensively since he was a child.During the Xianchun period of the Song Dynasty,he failed to become a Jinshi repeatedly.After the death of the Song Dynasty,Chen Yan was deeply saddened by the demise of the country.He treated himself as a remnant of the Song Dynasty and did not involve in official career all his life.Kublai Khan wanted a reclusive man to be an official.Chen Yan didn’t want to serve other countries,so he reclined in Jiuhua.In his later years,he retired to Jiuhua and built Jiuhua Academy under the twin peaks.He enjoys traveling between mountains and rivers,and entertaining himself by reading.Chen Yan loves poetry and books.He is the author of“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”,which is now in the world.In his later years,the poet lived in Jiuhua Mountain,toured the victory of Jiuhua,and wrote a poem to record it.Therefore,the collection of poems is called Jiuhua.“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”has an old version,which is incomplete due to the destruction of the war.Fang Shifa collected the lost poems and donated money to reprint them,a total of 210,which are the articles handed down by later generations.“Jiuhua Poetry Collection” belongs to Jiuhua Mountain Poetry,which is related to Jiuhua Mountain Poetry in previous dynasties.Therefore,this paper takes Chen Yan and his “Jiuhua Poetry Collection”as the research object,first reviews Chen Yan’s life and the spread of the version of his poetry collection,and makes an in-depth tnterpretation of the content and artistic style of the poem,then analyzes the important significance and value of “Jiuhua Poetry Collection”to Jiuhua Mountain Poetry in previous dynasties.The full text is divided into four chapters:The first chapter introduces Chen Yan’s life and the circulation of the edition of“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”.In terms of Chen Yan’s life,through the records of local chronicles,the evaluation of others and the poems in“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”,Chen Yan’s life experience are restored.In terms of the circulation of poetry collections,the circulation of the versions of the works is studied through the preface written by Fang Shifa for “Jiuhua Poetry Collection” and the records of five versions of the poetry collections.The second chapter discusses the main content of“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”.Through the collation and analysis of Chen Yan’s “Jiuhua Poetry Collection”,the 210 poems in the poetry collection are classified into four categories: scenery,products,religion and seclusion.Among them,scenery poetry can be divided into natural landscape and cultural landscape.Product poetry covers the description of Jiuhua Mountain specialties such as yellow grain rice,Jindi tea and five hairpin pine.Religious poetry includes Buddhist and Taoist themes.Buddhism and Taoism give birth to seclusion complex.“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”also reflects Chen Yan’s seclusion feelings.The third chapter focuses on the artistic characteristics of“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”.First of all,almost all the poems in“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”have caption notes,which can be used to understand the location,appearance and historical evolution of Jiuhua Mountain landscape.Secondly,Chen Yan is good at using rhetoric,especially allusions.Allusions in his poems are often combined with comments,and the integration is ingenious.Finally,Chen Yan often uses Buddhism to express his feelings and understand life,and his poetry creation also has the characteristics of free and easy.The fourth chapter mainly studies the relationship between“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”and Jiuhua Mountain Poetry in previous dynasties.By combing the poems that can communicate with Chen Yan’s poems in Jiuhua Mountain Poems of previous dynasties,especially the 11 poems of the monk Xitan of the Song Dynasty attached to“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”,this paper analyzes the important position and value of“Jiuhua Poetry Collection”in ancient Chinese Jiuhua Mountain Poems.
