| Advances in technology have led to changes in the way people communicate and convey information.People’s communication is no longer limited to a single textual method,but can also use pictures,audio,and movement,and people can communicate and understand in multiple ways.People can communicate and understand in multiple ways.The extensive application of modern information technology in teaching and the introduction of policies related to educational modernization have brought the possibility of multi-modal teaching.Reading is an essential part of learning a language,and only a lot of reading can make it possible for students to learn how to express themselves.Reading comprehension is a key aspect of measuring a student’s English proficiency in middle school.The new English curriculum standards for 2022 also clearly point out the importance of reading in English teaching.However,teachers are still the centre of English reading classes in junior high schools.Teachers tend to put grammar at the top of reading lessons,simply explaining the knowledge.The classroom environment is dreary and uninteresting,and there is just one teaching method used.Traditional reading classes are often boring and students are not interested in the class.This kind of class is also one of the reasons why students have poor reading ability and lack of in-depth exploration of the text.Under the background of our country’s "double reduction" policy,English teaching in junior high schools urgently needs to be reformed to follow the changes of the times.Teachers should pay more attention to the transformation of teaching methods and the innovation of classroom models to stimulate students’ interest and create efficient classrooms.The author conducted a four-month research on English reading teaching in school.The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of English reading teaching in junior high school on the reading interest and reading level of junior high school students under the multimodal theory.This study used questionnaires,reading achievement tests,and interviews to explore,and uses SPSS for data analysis.The results of the study show that multimodal English reading teaching has a positive impact on junior high school students’ English reading proficiency.Multimodal English teaching can integrate teaching materials,improve junior high school students’ interest in English reading,stimulate students’ sense of classroom participation,and deepen students’ understanding of the text. |
