| This paper is written from the research direction of Western orchestral performance in the field of music disciplines.The object of the study is the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano Time pieces Op.43 by Polish-American composer Robert Muchinsky.The work was performed in the author’s mid-term concert repertoire.The entire text is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is about Robert Muchinsky’s musical composition style.It is combined with an account of Muczynski’s life,compositional characteristics and the background of the composition of the Time pieces in order to better understand the musical connotation of the work.This chapter is divided into three sections: the first is a brief biography of Muczynski’s life,the second is a description of Muczynski’s musical composition characteristics,and the third is an overview of the background of the composition of the Time pieces.The second chapter is a work analysis of the Time pieces.Through the four sections corresponding to the four movements,the composer’s ingenious compositional techniques and structural features are elaborated to help the performer deepen his understanding of the repertoire.The third chapter is about the main points and difficulties of playing Time pieces,and the author explains how to better show the different musical characteristics and musical images of each movement by taking representative examples from the repertoire.The author summarizes the difficult points that will appear during the practice process and analyzes them,and gives some targeted practice methods in combination with their characteristics.The first section is about the accurate use of playing methods,including the combination and use of legato,discontinuity,break,accent and various playing methods,and the analysis of the influence of different playing methods on the musical image.The third section is the performance of the Time pieces,which includes the intensity and the training methods and requirements for the crescendos.The fourth section is about the characteristics of the tempo changes and the rhythmic characteristics of the music at different tempos.The fifth section deals with the tempo and rhythm of the Time pieces,which illustrates the change of rhythm by changing the tempo and the change of rhythm in the same beat number,respectively.The Time pieces reflects the composer’s meticulous approach to writing.In this paper,we analyze the structure of the work,summarize and classify the performance characteristics of the piece,and discuss how to train and perform it in order to better interpret it. |
