| As an important period in the history of Chinese aesthetics, the Song dynasty reached the peak of Chinese classical aesthetics in its artistic and aesthetic achievements, and presented a prosperous scene in the fields of literature and artistic creation. It was also the spirit of openness conveyed by the Song Dynasty that led and initiated the continuous prosperity of culture and art in later generations. The development of aesthetics has always been inseparable from the many factors of the times and the individual, and these factors were the main driving force behind the development of aesthetics. The calligrapher,as the main subject of calligraphic creation, was also inevitably influenced by the aesthetic orientation of his time. The calligrapher’s calligraphic thought, creative philosophy, writing technique, and stylistic orientation were all closely related to the aesthetic orientation of the times. As a representative calligrapher of the Song dynasty’s "Shang Yi" style,Mi Fu’s calligraphy, while inheriting the traditional style of calligraphy, has a strong personality and fully demonstrates the typical characteristics of Song dynasty aesthetics. This paper uses Mi Fu as the starting point for an examination of Song aesthetics. The paper aims to find out where the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty fits into the development of contemporary art and aesthetics, and to draw inspiration to solve some of the problems encountered in the development of contemporary aesthetics and calligraphy, and to guide one’s own calligraphic creation. |
