The duty of an actor is to create vivid character images.As an actor,it is the fundamental task for actors to use all their elements as the raw materials for shaping the characters depicted in the playwright’s works,and to process and carve them based on different personality characteristics.Through such secondary creation,they can restore the author’s artistic image with vitality,which is the fundamental task of their performance creation.The so-called personification refers to a technique and method used by actors to create character traits.The reason why it is called personification refers to the actor integrating their imagination,life experience,and summary of art into the character,making the character image have artistic charm and aesthetic value,and transforming the general personality of life into a unique personality of art.In order to shape the typical personality of characters,actors use techniques to control,transform,and hide emotions,actions,appearances,and habits that do not conform to the character’s personality,creating a character image that is different from the actor himself.Characters with exceptionally distinct and prominent characteristics in their personalities,even those with special physical,psychological,and habitual expressions,are also referred to as personalized characters.Personalized performance is the core of shaping character images for actors and is one of the fundamental skills of performing arts.In art forms such as movies,TV dramas,and plays,the use of personalized performance is very common.It can help the audience better understand characters,enhance the authenticity and immersion of the plot.This article aims to explore the significance and methods of personalized performance in shaping character images through the play "Red Plastic Bucket in the Green Shade" by playwright Meng Bing.This drama is a military drama that reflects the real life of the military,portrays the survival status of soldiers,and tells the story of five outstanding female college students who come to the military camp for military training.In the midst of the green,several "red plastic buckets" were added,showcasing the spiritual outlook and ideological realm of ordinary soldiers in the 1990s through the collision of red and green.Through literature review and case analysis,the importance and practical methods of personalized performance in shaping character images are summarized,providing reference for performing artists.
