How Does Pseudo-States Construct "National Consciousnes"

During the puppet Manchukuo period,the Shengjing Times and Datong Newspaper,as the public opinion propaganda machines of the Japanese colonialists,undertooking the heavy task of enslaving the people in the occupied areas of Northeast China.From the establishment of Manchukuo to the outbreak of the All-Out War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,it was an important period for Japanese colonialists to build the Manchukuo national consciousness.Comment is a sharp tool to expressing views and guiding ideas,and it is the "vanguard" to instilling the Manchukuo consciousness.Therefore,this study uses 2591 comments published in Shengjing Times and Datong Newspaper from March 1933 to July 1937 as research sample to investigate the construction of the Manchukuo national consciousness by Japanese colonialists.Firstly,this paper examines the overall situation of the comments,including discusses the publication volume,publication rate,layout arrangement and it’s evolution,genre distribution and characteristics of the these comments.Secondly,this paper explores the authors ’personal experience,characteristics of discourse,views and positions of the authors.At the same time,this paper discusses the "content" and "purpose" of the comments.Finally,based on the above basic research,this paper studies the strategy of the two newspapers’ speech of shape pseudo-national consciousness,and the "explicit" of speech power under the guidance of strategy,that is,the "norm" and "practice" of speech on Manchukuo national consciousness.The study finds that under the guidance of strategies such as setting "traps",guiding step by step,skillfully using "intertextuality",implicit expression,imaginary "interaction",returning to readers,"other" narratives,and shaping the antagonistic image of "progress and backwardness",the two newspapers have turned the ideology of the Japanese colonialists into established facts for description,and constantly reproduced to create a pseudo-national consciousness with "only faith in the kingly way","absolute obedience" and "surrender of the individual" as the core.After that,with the help of symbolic expression,ritual exercises,interactive participation and other forms,the so-called pseudo-national consciousness "created" was imposed on the people in the northeast occupied areas,and the thinking and cognition of the people in the occupied areas were re-operated and reconstructed,causing great harm to the people.
