As a widely used artistic expression technique in art fields such as sculpture and painting,the "unfinished feeling" more effectively expresses the artist’s subjective consciousness,increases the artistic connotation and aesthetic value of the work.Illustration has been consistently enhanced base on its creative and emotional worth as a vital visual language for communicating human ideas.It also provides individuals with visual engagement and spiritual solace,meeting their requirements on a spiritual level.The development of " unfinished feeling " in illustrations is currently receiving less attention from scholars than it is in the creation of "uncompleted feeling" in paintings.This essay examines and contrasts common instances of painting and illustration based on theories such as art and psychology,and elucidates the artistic characteristics and expression techniques of "unfinished feeling " in illustration,and verifies it through the creation practice of illustration works.There are six chapters in the thesis.The first chapter in the introduction segment introduces the research background,significance,substance,techniques,and research value of this topic.The second chapter elaborates on the idea,creation,and use of the "uncompleted sensation," as well as on its historical investigation in both the East and the West,and uses multidisciplinary theories to assess its aesthetic tenets.The third chapter covers the relationship and differences between painting and illustration and describes the definition,development,and current state of illustration.The fourth chapter compares how the " unfinished feeling" is applied in painting and illustration,and it describes the aesthetic qualities and expression methods of " unfinished feeling " in illustration art.During the creative practice of the "Self-consistence" series of thematic illustrations,the fifth chapter investigates the use of "uncompleted sensation" in illustration.The sixth chapter is a summary and reflection that lists the findings from this topic’s research as well as suggestions for improvement.
