Grammar has always been one of the focuses in foreign language teaching.English Curriculum Standards for Nine-Year Compulsory Education(2022 edition)emphasizes both the form and use of grammar knowledge,which contributes to improving learners’ language ability of the English subject core competences.However,students in junior high school have low interest and low efficiency on grammar learning under the regular teaching methods,and the language use is far from satisfaction due to the emphasis on grades of examination.Thus,more effective ways for English grammar teaching in junior high school are called on for promoting learners’ language learning ability.Problem-solving,one of the key words in English curriculum standards,has drawn wide attention from educators and scholars.This study explores the problem-solving mode in junior high school grammar teaching through empirical research assisted with literature review,tests,questionnaires and interviews.This empirical research focuses on the following three aspects:(1)What problems exist in current English grammar teaching in junior high school?(2)How can English teachers apply the problem-solving mode to English grammar teaching in junior high school?(3)What effect can the problem-solving mode produce in improving junior high school students’ grammar learning interest and their grammar proficiency?The results of related data indicate the research outcomes as follows: firstly,students in junior high school have difficulties in grammar learning and they have low interest in grammar learning under the regular teaching methods;secondly,after the implementation of the five-step problem-solving mode in grammar teaching,students’ interests in grammar learning has been enhanced significantly;thirdly,the problem-solving teaching mode is effective in improving students’ grammar learning efficiency.Therefore,the problem-solving teaching mode has been proved to be feasible and effective in enhancing students’ grammar learning interest as well as improving grammar learning efficiency.
