| Writing teaching has played an important role in English classes.However,the evaluation of English writing is mainly based on the single summative evaluation in junior middle schools.Peer Review can make up for some shortcomings on English writing teaching with multi-dimensional evaluation content and diversified evaluation objects.The Peer Review can develop students’ English writing level effectively.This thesis applies the Peer Review to English writing teaching in a junior middle school,with a view to stimulate students’ interests in English writing and better their writing attitudes as well as further boost their writing performance and accomplishment of teaching objectives.Under the guidance of the Zone of Proximal Development and Cooperative Learning Theory,this thesis selects 100 students(among which 50 are from a control class and 50 are from an experimental class)of a junior middle school in Ningxiang City.This study adopts questionnaire,literature research and testing method.It aims to explore the application of Peer Review to English writing teaching in junior high schools.This thesis mainly focuses the following two questions.First,what are the influences of Peer Review on the accuracy of the students’ usage of English vocabulary and grammar? Second,what are the influences of Peer Review on the students’ interest toward Eighth Grade English writing?The thesis clarifies the research background and the status of Peer Review both at home and abroad through reading relevant documents.Based on the above,the study designs the specific implementation steps of the Peer Review and applies it to the writing teaching class for 12 weeks in a junior middle school so as to enhance the quality and effects of teaching as well as improve the writing ability of the students.Secondly,the study tests the two classes to obtain the general data of their writing level before Peer Review teaching.And then,the experimental class students are trained to understand the methods and principles of Peer Review.According to the writing level of the students and consideration of personality characteristics,the thesis divides the students into different groups.Meanwhile,another questionnaire and testing for the experimental class are carried out.Lastly,this study collects and analyzes the data obtained from questionnaires and testing that are mentioned above.The research results indicate that the application of the Peer Review to English writing teaching of junior middle schools has greatly improved the students’ writing performance,participation rate and stimulated their writing interest.Students can make better use of vocabulary and grammar knowledge in writing.Therefore,under the guidance of the Zone of Proximal Development and Cooperative Learning Theory,the application of the Peer Review to English writing teaching in junior middle schools is applicable and feasible,which is conducive to the quality and achievements of English writing teaching. |
