With the continuous progress of science and technology and the vigorous development of a new round of global technological revolution,cultivating comprehensive and high-quality talents suitable for the development of the 21 st century has become the primary task for countries to respond to challenges and improve international competitiveness.Facing the new challenges of talent cultivation,educational reform is imperative.The combination of STEAM education philosophy and project-based learning is an educational approach in which students engage in interdisciplinary learning in groups,emphasizing the integration of multidisciplinary knowledge to adapt to new situations and meet new requirements.STEAM education not only emphasizes the cultivation of students’ comprehensive qualities in science,technology,engineering,and mathematics,but also attaches importance to their development in the field of art.Art is a key discipline in China’s art education,and how to use art education to enhance students’ comprehensive quality ability is a question worth pondering.This study focuses on the art practice activity of "design and application" in junior high school art.From the perspective of the art discipline,based on the art curriculum standards and under the guidance of STEAM education philosophy,a project-based learning unit course for the art practice of "design and application" in junior high school art is designed and practical exploration is carried out,attempting to maximize the value of "design and application" art practice and build a new bridge for achieving students’ comprehensive development.This article is divided into seven parts.The first part is an introduction,which elaborates on the research background,purpose and significance,research methods,and summarizes the current research status of STEAM education concept at home and abroad;The second part elaborates on the core concepts and theoretical basis;The third part compares and analyzes the curriculum standards for art and design in junior high schools both domestically and internationally,as well as the setting and basic content of art and design courses in junior high school art textbooks.It summarizes the shortcomings of the textbook content in the art practice of "design and application" in junior high schools in China,and provides inspiration for the application of project-based learning under the STEAM concept in the art practice of "design and application" in junior high schools in China;The fourth part investigates,analyzes,and summarizes the current situation of project-based learning in the art practice of "design and application" in middle school art under the STEAM concept;The fifth part constructs a framework for project-based learning of "design and application" art practice in junior high school under the STEAM concept,preparing for practical teaching;The sixth part designs and implements the project-based learning "Campus Beauty" unit course for the art practice of "Design and Application" in junior high school under the STEAM concept,and reflects and improves the unit course;The seventh part is the conclusion,which summarizes this study and hopes to attract more teachers’ attention to the teaching of "design application" art practice in middle school art.Research has shown that carrying out project-based learning activities for the "design and application" art practice of middle school art under the STEAM concept is beneficial for stimulating students’ enthusiasm for art learning,developing their innovative awareness to a certain extent,and improving their comprehensive literacy.
