Research On The Contemporary Development Of Marx’s Class Analysis Method

Class analysis method is a scientific method of analyzing class social phenomenon in the field of political practice based on the viewpoint of class and class struggle from the perspective of historical materialism.Inspired by bourgeois historians,economists and utopian socialist scholars,Marx deeply studied the class differentiation and class opposition under the capitalist system.Later,with the establishment of historical materialism and the theory of surplus value,he transformed socialism from ideal into reality.Marx’s application of class analysis method can be found scattered in many of his works.On the macro level,he analyzed class society from all angles and sought its intrinsic nature from historical facts.At the micro level,the specific analysis in the context of class society breaks the single dimension of the traditional analysis of historical events and organically combines the factional analysis on the historical phenomenon level with the class analysis on the essential level in the form of polyphony,thus elevating the application of class analysis method to a new height.At the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20 th century,Marxism was introduced into China by advanced intellectuals and became the guiding ideology of the Communist Party of China.As the basic analytical method of Marxism,class analysis has made a great contribution to the victory of the new democratic revolution.In the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,class analysis still played an important role,but due to the expansion of class analysis,it caused certain losses to the cause of the Party and the people for a period of time.It was not until the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee in 1978 that it was decided to stop taking class struggle as the key line and shift the focus of the work of the Party and the country to economic construction.Class discourse faded from the official system and became marginalized.With the change of our economic system and the rapid development of our economy,great changes have taken place in the class structure and the standard of class division in our country.The introduction of the theory of social stratification by Max Weber and Durkheim makes class analysis replace class analysis as the main analysis method of society.However,with the deepening of reform and opening up,the divergence of interests between social groups has become increasingly obvious,and a series of social contradictions such as the polarization of the rich and the poor,and the widening gap between urban and rural development have become prominent.Simple stratification analysis is not enough to deal with the huge changes brought by social reform.Without clear understanding of the nature of society,it is difficult to put forward effective methods to resolve contradictions.In order to solve the social contradictions and conflicts,Marx’s class analysis method comes into people’s view again.The theory of class analysis based on historical materialism has experienced a tortuous process from criticism to transcendence and finally to establishment.In view of the actual situation at home and abroad in China,we should neither deviate from the view of class and give up the method of class analysis as a guide,nor should we prevent the expansion of class analysis.In particular,in international exchanges,we should refrain from over-emphasizing ideological lines while adhering to the socialist position and the proletarian position.This requires that on the basis of adhering to the principle of the bottom line,we should value cooperation over confrontation,value win-win and tolerate differences.Therefore,we should conform to the development of The Times,in light of the various problems arising in the development process of the new era,persist in combining the basic principles and methods of Marxism with China’s actual conditions and fine traditional Chinese culture,persist in applying materialist dialectics and historical materialism,in order to realize the new innovation of class analysis theory.It will provide profound theoretical guidance for comprehensively building a modern socialist country and comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
