The Study Of The Inheritance And Development Of The Poetics Of The Southern Dynasties By Wenjing Mifu Lun | | Posted on:2024-08-09 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Y H Zhu | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555307085984909 | Subject:Ancient Chinese literature | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The book Wenjing Mifu Lun is a poetic work compiled by the Japanese monk Master Hongfa during the Middle Tang Dynasty,which based on numerous collections of poetic theory literature in Tang Dynasty.This work occupies a crucial position in the history of Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges.Consisting of six volumes,the book contains theoretical works on poetic theory from the Tang dynasty and earlier periods.During the Tang dynasty,poetry in the modern style took shape and reached maturity.The discussions of Wenjing Mifu Lun on style,form,imagery,parallelism,and the science of poetic interpretation demonstrate the continuous progress of Tang poetry theory and creative techniques.In comparison with the poetry theory of the Southern Dynasties,it is clear that the Tang dynasty inherited and developed many aspects of the former’s theories.This progress was established on the foundation of the poetic theory constructed by the Southern Dynasties and continuously extended and expanded upon.This thesis comprises seven parts.The introduction provides an overview of the Wenjing Mifu Lun and the poetic theory of the Southern Dynasties,the current research on Wenjing Mifu Lun and the Southern Dynasties’ poetic theory,the research methods used in this paper,and the significance of the research.The second part mainly discusses the compilation of Wenjing Mifu Lun and its relationship with the Southern Dynasties’ poetic theory,outlining the development of poetic theory.The third part focuses on the inheritance and development of Wenjing Mifu Lun regarding the Southern Dynasties’ discussions on literary styles."Style" is the first consideration in literary creation,and only when the correct "positioning of style" is achieved can good works be created.Wenxin Diaolong regards "style" as the theoretical core and pursues the orthodox style of writing,exploring techniques for achieving excellence in all styles.Wenjing Mifu Lun follows these literary ideas and pursuits in its discussions,and Weiti provides a more detailed classification and integration.Both works provide a more comprehensive explanation of literary style from the perspectives of "style" "art" and "trend".The fourth part mainly discusses the inheritance and development of Wenjing Mifu Lun regarding the Southern Dynasties’ theory of "meaning"."Meaning" has long been a topic in literary theory.Wenxin Diaolong proposed the concept of "meaningful imagery," and Shipin proposed the concept of "inspiration",both of which provide specific theoretical discussions on "meaning".Wenjing Mifu Lun links the "meaning" and "atmosphere" in poetry,incorporating both creative techniques and theoretical ideas,thus enriching the Southern Dynasties’ "meaning" theory.The fifth part mainly discusses the inheritance and development of Wenjing Mifu Lun regarding the Southern Dynasties’ theory of parallelism.The Six Dynasties period was an important period for the development of regulated verse,and the use of parallelism in parallel prose had a significant influence on Tang poetry.The "four pairs" proposed in Wenxin Diaolong’s Lici were developed into the "twenty-nine types of pairs" in Wenjing Mifu Lun,which were further enriched theoretically.Although the "twenty-nine types of pairs" were proposed by different poets at different times and were somewhat complex,they still developed continuously from the poetic theory of the Southern Dynasties,including the "four pairs" in Lici.The sixth part mainly discusses the inheritance and development of Wenjing Mifu Lun regarding the Southern Dynasties’ study of textual criticism and interpretation.The study of textual criticism and interpretation originated from Buddhist scripture interpretation and was integrated with Confucian exegesis,giving rise to the study of yishu in the Southern Dynasties.In terms of form,Wenjing Mifu Lun repeatedly employs terms such as "sections of text" and links them to key words related to hierarchical composition in writing.In terms of content,Wenjing Mifu Lun uses the tools of textual criticism and interpretation to expound on the content of the "Commentaries" and "Compilations" sections in Wenxin Diaolong.Therefore,both in terms of form and content,its inheritance and development of the study of textual criticism and interpretation can be seen.Lastly,the article provides a comprehensive summary as the conclusion. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Wenjing Mifu Lun, the southern dynasties’ poetics, stylistics mental, image, counterpoint, Jingshu Kepan | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
