The term "jingbiao" refers to a regular form of incentive adopted by dynastic rulers in Chinese history to promote a certain morality, value orientation and regulate social life. The Women’s Chastity Table is one of the many types of tables,i.e.,an institutional incentive for dynastic rulers, including the Qing government,to honor women’s virtuous "virtuous deeds" in order to promote and maintain women’s chastity as a moral virtue in the family and society. As a type of honorary system, the women’s chastity honorary form was gradually developed and evolved through the interaction between the central court, local government and grassroots society.Based on the experience of the previous dynasties, the Qing dynasty women’s chastity list was continuously developed and improved, and the Qing government vigorously promoted mainstream ideology and values in Guizhou,of which the women’s chastity list was one of the important elements. The study of women’s chastity list in Guizhou during the Qing Dynasty will help us better understand its evolution and social impact in the local society. In addition to the introduction and concluding remarks, the main part of this paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter discusses the origins of women’s chastity and the implementation of the chastity list in the Qing Dynasty. The first section illustrates the inferiority of women in the context of the old male-centered family marriage. This leads to the origin of the concept of chastity and the origins of the chastity list for women in all dynasties. The second section compares the situation of women’s chastity list in various dynasties before the Qing Dynasty, and explains the inheritance and historical changes of the system of women’s chastity list in the Qing Dynasty from the previous dynasties, laying the foundation for the following historical development of women’s chastity list in Guizhou.Chapter 2 discusses the origins of the issue of women’s chastity in Guizhou and the historical changes of the chastity list for women in Guizhou. The first section compares the status of women in Guizhou during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and the status of their chastity list.During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty,Guizhou was established as a province. Before that,Guizhou belonged to the provinces of Huguang and Sichuan, and most of them were ethnic minority areas,so the chastity list for women was not very popular. After Guizhou was established as a province, the central government’s control over the local areas was strengthened. However, the minority areas in Guizhou were still ruled by the Tusi, and thus the system of chastity glorification was not popular.During the Qing Dynasty, especially during the Yongzheng Dynasty, the Qing government reorganized the land in Guizhou and opened up the Miao frontier, bringing the minority areas directly under government control and integrating the management of the frontier areas with that of the mainland, thus making the time ripe for the implementation of the chastity list for women.Chapter 3 discusses the laws, regulations and implementation of the chastity list in Guizhou during the Qing Dynasty. The first part focuses on the provisions of the Qing Code of Canon Law and the Qing Laws on the chastity list, which can be seen in the national laws on the chastity list. The local implementation of the chastity list for women required the implementation of the local community, and the administration of the chastity list was an important part of the local government’s performance. Therefore, the second part of the chapter discusses the highest and the last subjects of the administration of the chastity festival, the subjects of the administration of the chastity festival, and the organic linkage between the grassroots organizations of the chastity festival, such as the governor of Guizhou, the prefectures and counties, the chief of the clan, and the baojia. The fourth chapter compares the spatial and temporal distribution of the women who were honored and the "Yi Xing" of the festival. The first part discusses the spatial and temporal distribution of women who were awarded the honorary titles in Guizhou during the Qing Dynasty from two dimensions: temporal and spatial. As the objects of the women’s chastity and virtuous deeds, the women of Guizhou were the protagonists of the chastity and virtuous deeds.Without their chastity and virtue, there would have been no Guizhou "praise government".Therefore, the second part examines the issues related to the women who were honored in Guizhou during the Qing Dynasty.Through the analysis of the virtuous deeds of women who were honored,it is possible to clarify the adherence of women to chastity in Guizhou and the implementation of women’s chastity honors in local society.Chapter 5 focuses on the evaluation of women’s chastity awards in Guizhou during the Qing Dynasty. The chastity list of women was one of the important driving forces to maintain social morality and consolidate the rule of the Qing dynasty. Its implementation in Guizhou allowed the state ideology to penetrate into ethnic areas, helped to spread the concept of chastity in frontier areas, maintained the harmony and stability of widowed families, and maintained a good popular culture. However,it also inevitably caused heavy physical and psychological damage and suppression to women.
