Liu Rushi’s talent in literature and art during his lifetime has amazed the world.His resolute national integrity and patriotic performance against the Qing Dynasty and the restoration of the Ming Dynasty have been praised and admired by future generations.After investigating the history of Chinese literature,the story of Liu Rushi after his death has shaped a variety of "Liu Rushi images" in different historical periods.With its unique charm,it has been active in the minds of scholars and widely circulated among the people.Some texts highlight her self-reliance and self-reliance,while others highlight her nationalism,both of which are closely related to the narrator.The image of Liu Rushi in these texts is constructed in two parts: historical facts and later comments.The text consists of three main parts: the introduction,the body,and the conclusion.In the introduction,a review of the research and methodological approach to the continuous shaping of the image of Liu Rushi is presented,and the significance of the selection of the topic is explored.In the main part,the transformation of Liu Rushi’s image is analysed in the light of the fact that she has changed her name several times and has transformed from a way of life dependent on others to an independent cultural form.The second part summarises the changes in the image of Liu Rushi in various texts,exploring the ’living image’ from a neo-historical perspective and focusing more on the literary aspects of history.The socio-cultural context gave rise to the writing of texts represented by typical characters such as Liu Rushi.In the mid-to late-Qing period,the premise of writing about Liu Rushi was to strengthen ritual rule,focusing on Qian Qian Yi’s image of ’Lady Ruyi’ and’Hedongjun’,while other images were avoided or even denigrated.In the late Qing and early Ming dynasties,narrators based their images of national heroes on the’martyr who threw himself into the water’ and the ’aspirant who restored the Ming’.In modern cultural history to the present day,the image of Liu Rushi has seen innovations in both research direction and methodology.Chen Yinqin’s shocking’recitation of the red dress’ in his later years influenced official attitudes and contributed to the pluralistic identification of Liu Rushi’s image by readers.The widespread diffusion of the image of the ’female’ self-awareness and discursive power of the ’boudoir master’,as well as the value of her image in the history of women’s literature,should be fully appreciated by future generations.Finally,the transformation of the ’Liu Rushi image’ into a theatrical performance in terms of subject matter and production mechanisms,more evocative because it conforms to the archetypes and exemplars in the minds of the audience,leads to a consideration of the reasons for its constant rewriting.The conclusion echoes the introduction.It focuses on a summary of the scholar’s intentions in creating the image of Liu Rushi.All literary history is contemporary literary history.What the times demanded,the values that dominated the above plausible characterisation were put into practice.The deeper reasons for the portrayal of Liu Rushi in the writings of different periods are the internal reasons of the narrator himself and the external environmental reasons of the socio-political and economic aspects.This paper examines the logic of the evolution of the image of Liu Rushi,providing valuable clues and pathways to the many facets of the characterisation mechanism.
