The relationship between contemporary art and consumerism is a controversial topic among contemporary artists and critics,but it is still controversial today.Among them,the issue of the relationship between pop art and commodity culture gradually maturing with the development of capitalist production structure can be said to be the most representative.Based on this background,this paper selects the controversial and representative contemporary Pop artist Jeff Koons as the starting point to explore the connection between the art,the artist and the audience and the capitalist ideology of production in the context of contemporary society.And through the analysis of the connection,prove that why under the guidance of consumerism art production of art system and the public influence level is alarming and even harmful,and take the role of the audience public why to resist such art form and thoughts,and that by resisting the consumerism art to maintain itself in the artistic and aesthetic value judgment level has the subjectivity of what is necessary.Based on the critical perspective of consumerism,Through the context of the artist’s personal artistic creation and practice,And a review of their creative process and ideas,A case study of modern and contemporary Pop art oriented by Jeff Koons’ consumerist values,By discussing and analyzing the forms and styles of specific works,demonstrating the consumerism attributes of their works,Through the analysis of its theme and creative concept,we demonstrate the consumerism ideology behind its artistic practice,In combination with the literature and data to further discuss the role and functions of consumerism ideology in the art of Jeff Koons,With Koons’ personal work and creative experience as the entry point,Further analysis of the relationship between art and consumerism and consumer culture in the context of contemporary society,And from a contemporary perspective,Why the public should be critical and reflective of such a special art form.
