The Nu is a minority ethnic group with a relatively small population. It mainly lives in the China-Myanmar border area, and its domestic distribution is mainly concentrated in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province and its surrounding areas. This ethnic group has rich traditional art and ethnic culture, among which song and dance is their favorite art form.As one of the typical representatives of Nu culture,"Dabiya Dance" is of great significance in studying Nu’s unique culture and art. This article consists of three parts:introduction, main body, and conclusion. The introduction section elaborates on the research background, reviews relevant literature, and discusses the research value and significance. The main body is divided into four chapters:Chapter 1 analyzes and discusses the cultural and ecological environment in which "Dabiya Dance" is situated, mainly summarizing the changes in its cultural and ecological environment from the perspectives of natural environment and cultural ecology, and the impacts on the production and development of "Dabiya Dance".Chapter 2 analyzes the dance forms of "Dabiya Dance" and identifies the factors that affect its ecological environment.Chapter 3 explains the cultural connotation and function of "Dabiya Dance".Chapter 4 explores the protection status, inheritance practice, and future development of "Dabiya Dance".The conclusion section summarizes and extracts the main points of this article. The research found that firstly,"Dabiya Dance" of the Nu,which was formed about 1000 years ago and became popular in various Nu villages over 600 years ago.The origin of"Dabiya Dance" has been attributed to five different explanations including migration, ritual worship, imitation, production labor, and love, but the author believes that it originated from a comprehensive explanation of labor.Secondly, the history of "Dabiya Dance" can be roughly divided into three stages:early development, decline after the introduction of Christianity, and revival after becoming a national intangible cultural heritage project.During the stable early development stage, many unique types of "Dabiya Dance" were created. However, the introduction of Christianity conflicted with traditional culture and led to the decline of"Dabiya Dance".After beingrecognized as a national intangible cultural heritage project,a favorable political and cultural environment promoted its revival.Thirdly,it is recommended to protect "Dabiya Dance" through six aspects of cultural and ecological preservation:passing down through school education, establishing cultural and ecological protection areas, reviving ethnic festivals, promoting tourism in ethnic villages, adopting ethnic image recording, and leveraging the power of elite groups.
