Since the 18 th National Congress, the country has paid more and more attention to vocational education.English,as one of the subjects must learn in vocational education courses, has also received more attention. In 2017,the country published The New Curriculum standard for senior high school students may fit for the senior high school students, not fully applicable to the secondary vocational school students. As a teacher who works in secondary vocational school, the researcher feels that our students have it’s own characteristics---especially compared with the college students and senior high school students, they lack of learning motivation, even some of them(mostly)dislike learning. In researcher’s opinion,if we can find the reasons why the secondary vocational school students dislike study, maybe we can find some measures to help them. And the researcher believes this is the most important thing we should do before we want to teach the secondary vocational school students. The researcher herself is an English teacher in the X secondary vocational school,so it is very convenient for her to observe the students and find the problems which they have during English learning on attitude and investment. The aim of this paper is to help these students learning English well. This research will pay attention to these two questions: what is the state of English learning investment in secondary vocational schools? what factors affect the secondary vocational school students’ English learning investments. The students who the researcher chooses to participate in this research are from X secondary vocational school.According to this research, the researcher finds that the students who take part in this research obviously have lower investment in English learning process. And then the researcher used the questionnaire to help find the reasons.According to the analysis of the data, there are five factors which affect the investment of English learning:(1)the secondary vocational school students lack of motivation and aims during the process of learning English;(2)most of their parents have low literacy and not participate in the learning process of their children;(3)the attitude which English teacher shows to the students have a big effect on their attitude and investment in learning English;(4)the feeling that the vocational school gives to the students and how it sets the subject can give the students a signal---whether English is important or not?(5)our graduates are discriminated by the enterprise due to their poor education background. These five factors altogether works on lowering the investment in learning English of our secondary vocational school students.Based on these factors, implications can be gained from the research:(1)before teachers give English lessons, they should combine the students’ major and their learning interest. They should know what the students want to learn in their English lessons;(2)as an English teacher, they should focus on their teaching capacities and try to be better in teaching;(3)Teachers should hold life-long learning habits,so that students will be affected positively;(4)the headteacher should do a good job of home-school communication, and provides convenient conditions for students to actively learn English;(5)the schools should properly adjust the setting of English classes and strength the correlation between English class and students’ majors;(6)the school should strength the school-enterprise cooperation so that our students can have a better chance to get a job.
