The First International Forum for Lancang-Mekong Education Cooperation and Development & LEAD2 Symposium is of great momentum for deepening the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and strengthening discipline construction.Seven speeches are selected in this report, which are composed of three Chinese materials and four English materials.Three Chinese materials are opening speeches, which belong to ceremonial speeches.Four English materials are keynote reports of foreign scholars, which are highly academic and are mainly presented in slides. This paper is a report on simulated simultaneous interpreting, and its theoretical basis is Langacker’s construal theory. The construal theory involves that people have different descriptions of the same scene due to cognitive differences. The differences are caused by scope and background, perspective, salience and specificity.Essentially, simultaneous interpretation is a construal process of the interpreter from the source language to the target language. That is to say,the interpreter construes the source language to grasp the meaning, expresses the target language in appropriate language, and embodies the way of construal in the target language.Different interpreters have different ways of construal, which leads to different language expressions. The construal theory explains the creativity of interpreters in the process of interpreting and gives full play to the subjectivity of interpreters. In this paper, the four dimensions of construal theory are applied to interpreting.Through specific cases, this paper analyzes the difficulties encountered by the interpreter in the process of interpreting and the strategies, methods and techniques that can be adopted, such as anticipation, reformation, class shift, fuzziness and addition, and discusses the feasibility and practical guiding significance of applying construal theory to the practice of simultaneous interpretation, providing a new perspective for simultaneous interpretation research. |
