| Since its inception,Chinese portrait painting has developed over a thousand years ago, leaving a strong legacy in the long history of traditional Chinese painting that is still celebrated today. The core feature of Chinese painting is that it forms a unique formal language through the shaping of the imagery. In contrast to brush painting, ancient painting of the figure is more conservative in terms of colour, often using ink as the main focus and a small amount of colour to embellish the picture. In terms of ink expression, however, the emphasis is on freedom and agility, with ink not only expressing form, but also emotion and temperament. With the changing times and artistic trends, the relationship between colour and ink in modern painting has undergone some evolution and innovation.Painters have begun to experiment with the traditional use of colour and ink in combination with modern artistic expressions, exploring some new ways of expression. The aim of this paper is to explore the evolution and characteristics of Chinese painting of the figure through an in-depth analysis and study of the relationship between colour and ink,and to understand the way colour and ink are used in the works of different historical periods and painters,as well as their role in the expression of the atmosphere and emotion of the picture. At the same time, the role of colour and ink in the expression of the painting of the figure is analysed.Studying the relationship between colour and ink not only deepens our knowledge and understanding of Chinese painting, but also provides useful guidance and inspiration for the appreciation and creation of realistic figure painting. At the same time, the relationship between colour and ink is also an important direction in the study of Chinese painting, providing us with an important basis for exploring the historical and cultural background of Chinese painting. |
