The occurrence and evolution of literature are rooted in a certain geographical space, and the capacity of geographical space and the tension of literary creation influence each other, showing a two-way interaction between literature and geography. From Sui to early Tang Dynasty, political power, literary activities, local customs and landscape were intertwined. With its diverse geographical features and unique natural and humanistic landscape, the southern region showed regional characteristics, artistic and aesthetic features and historical and cultural connotations different from those of the strong cultural areas in the north in terms of poetry aesthetics and geographical perception, promoting the development of poetry art and geographical culture. From the perspective of the distribution of poetry geographical writing, the southern geographical writing from Sui to early Tang was mainly concentrated in the four regions of Bashu,Jingxiang,Wuyue and Lingnan.Compared with the Jiangzuo culture of the Six Dynasties, the breadth of poetry geographical writing in the whole south expanded and tended to be balanced in geographical distribution.Combined with different cultural customs, natural features, historical evolution and literators’ emotions,The four regions show their own stage characteristics and regional characteristics. The unification of political geography and the movement of literati to the south led to the emergence of a large number of spatial Interplay writing in poems of this period, such as the north-south spatial Interplay with natural objects, the historical space interaction based on historical sites, the astrological division space interaction under the three-dimensional vision, and the spatial Interplay between the text of the previous generation and the experience of the present place. The three-dimensional southern poetry art space was built together, which revealed the expansion of text capacity and the deepening of emotional expression under the trend of the Six Dynasties poetry and court poetry. In the art of poetry, the unprecedented political centripetal force of the northern imperial capital gave rise to a number of symbolic geographical imagery in the geographical writing of the south, and the old geographical spatial memory was reintegrated with the new geographical writing under the political frontier to form the typical material of the cultural geography of later generations, while the aesthetic style of the court literati brought about the pairing of geographical elements in poetry, which to a certain extent contributed to the formation of a harmonious poetic realm in the Tang Dynasty.Under the historical background of division and unification, the literati’s love for Beijing, the cultural inertia of sharing sorrow with the ancients and the relatively weak local cultural identity behind the southern geography writing influence the geographical emotion expression of poetry. The change of political pattern and historical accumulation led to the unbalanced development of economy and culture in the south, which affected the choice of the travel of literati in the south and the change of regional distribution of poetry writing. The flexible promotion of local governance in the south and the established fact that the marginal areas are incorporated into the political territory make the geographical perception of "foreign land" in the poetry present a complicated state, but in general,it still promotes the geographical and cultural scope of "China" to radiate southward. From Sui to early Tang Dynasty, the writing of southern geography in poetry can be examined from two aspects: one is that the enhancement of literati’s exploration of southern geography under the political unification is closely related to the expansion and deepening of the writing of southern geography in poetry;the other is that literati activities endowed the southern region with cultural geographical significance beyond time and space under the environment of the initial unification. The interaction between literati, geography, poetry and culture can also be seen, and the presentation of the interactive relationship reflects the contribution of southern geography writing to the maturity of poetry in the Tang Dynasty and its unique role in the development of southern geography culture. |
