There are a large number of expressions like"X xiaoying"in contemporary Chinese,which are concise in form but rich in semantics,which are used in a wide range of fields,with the characteristics of elegance and popularity,professionalism and randomness.It is of great significance to study the relationship between the form and semantics of the"X xiaoying",as well as the cognitive path of its form generation and semantic construction,to guide Chinese teaching and understand the cognitive thinking of the Han people.Therefore,this paper takes the collected 714 corpora as the research object,based on the theoretical foundations of construction grammar theory,cognitive metonymy and metaphor theory,cognitive reference point theory,conceptual integration theory,etc.,and adopts the methods of combining description and interpretation,quantitative and qualitative and point-to-surface combination,to investigate the characteristics and formation process of the formal structure and semantic expression of the"X xiaoying",explores the operation of cognitive thinking in the generation mode of the"X xiaoying"and semantic understanding.and basically reveals the overall appearance of the"X xiaoying"and the internal mechanism of its internal derivative variation,indicating that metonymical and metaphorical cognitive thinking are the basis for the derivation and semantic construction of the expressions that"X xiaoying"constructs.The paper is set up in five chapters.The first chapter defines the research object of this paper,explains the source and extraction of corpus,clarifies the research significance and research purpose of this article,sorts out the current status and results of studying contemporary Chinese words from the perspectives of structure,semantics and cognition,and introduces the theories and research methods to be adopted in this paper.Chapter 2 discusses the origin and development path of the"X xiaoying"and the structural characteristics of the"X xiaoying".The expressions form"X xiaoying"is derived from the"X+effect"in English,which is consistent with the construction performance in English,and the combination between"X"and"xiaoying"under the structural relationship of the"X xiaoying"in Chinese is also closely different.The analysis of the structural environment and structural components of the"X xiaoying"presents the collocation objects of the"X xiaoying"structure,including its syntactic performance as subject,definite and object,and clarifies the characteristics of the construction component"X"in terms of the number of syllables and the parts of speech.Chapter 3 examines the semantic features and internal semantic relationships of the"X xiaoying".According to the refinement and expansion of the semantics of"xiaoying",as well as the comparative analysis of"X xiaoying","X+effect（效果）"and"X+rule（法则）/law（定律）",this paper explores the semantic characteristics of"X xiaoying",and finds that the"X xiaoying"has undergone the process of losing its professional and scientific features.According to the differences in the internal semantics of the"X xiaoying",the expressions that"X xiaoying"constructs can be divided into"X xiaoying₁"and"X xiaoying₂",and on the basis of this classification,this paper discusses the complex and diverse semantic relationships between"X"and"xiaoying"under the relationship of attribute-center structure.Chapter 4 examines the generation of"X xiaoying"expressions and the process of semantic understanding from a cognitive perspective,and explains that the metonymic mechanism of"part represents the whole"is the main cognitive mechanism for generating the series of"X xiaoying"expressions,and the specific way to achieve it is the suppression of construction,and the generation of partial expressions also highlights the operation and participation of the metaphorical cognitive mechanism.Based on the theory of cognitive reference point,this paper expounds the cognitive path of people’s understanding of the"X xiaoying",describes the construction process of the semantics of the"X xiaoying"with the theory of conceptual integration,and finally summarizes the characteristics:"same in form while different at essence"and"different in form while same at essence",which are reflected in people’s understanding of the"X xiaoying",and then excavates the reasons for the above characteristics of the relationship from the generation and understanding mechanism.Chapter 5 summarizes the structural and semantic characteristics of the"X xiaoying"from a cognitive perspective,points out the shortcomings of the research,and looks forward to future related researchs.
