On Selflessness In Oil Painting

Repainting in oil.In sketching,the painter’s state of consciousness is transformed along with the implementation process,from the rational state with objects and cognition to the perceptual state of feeling and perception,and then to the selfless state without objects and the unity of nature and man.The transformation or transcendence of the state of consciousness is a rheology of consciousness,which occurs unconsciously,secretly and imperceptibly.In my opinion,the state of the painter in sketching directly determines the efficiency of sketching and the effect of the work.The state of selflessness is a state of consciousness in which rationality is suspended and has profound philosophical connotation."Selflessness" is an important concept in Eastern and Western philosophy,which is the melting and transcendence of "I" as the subject.However,there are differences in the interpretation of "I" in Eastern and Western philosophy.The west attaches importance to reason and prevails in rationalism.It separates "I" from the world,and regards the world as the object to understand,study and conquer.I as the subject and things outside me as the object.The East attaches great importance to the nature.Zhuang Zi said,"The nature should be translated into the substance." Resolving or solving is the different way that Eastern and Western philosophies treat problems.Zhuangzi also said,"Heaven and earth are born together with me,and all things are one with me." That is,all things are different and think,so they are one."I" is the entity,"selflessness" is the virtual static body,"no self" is the virtual polar body.As a human being,I am,first of all,a conscious and spiritual being.My consciousness can be divided into three levels: conscious consciousness(rational),personal subconscious(perceptual)and collective subconscious(responsive).In the state of selflessness,my reason comes out of suspension and grows casually,which is my ablation and transcendence.At the same time,the state of selflessness is also the intermediate state between me and no self,and "no self" is a deeper "selflessness".The western traditional oil painting concept is objective,subject and object dichotomy,which can be surpassed in the practice of painting.From the state of object to the state of non-object selflessness,the painter’s observation method,painting steps and the relationship between subject and object in sketching will be transformed.When the subject of sketching disappears in the state of selflessness,the object of sketching does not exist,thus achieving the transcendence of the western traditional sketching concept of object and subject and object.Of course,the state of selflessness exists not only in oil painting,but also in any practical activities for survival.It is the out-of-place state of "our own temporality",which makes us win the meaning of sketching.
