The Study On The Image Construction Of The Communist Party Of China In The New Era From The Perspective Of Arab Mainstream Media

The international image of a party is the multi-dimensional evaluation by the international community.A good image is crucial to improving a country’s international discourse power and status.Since the 18th National Congress,the CPC has attached great importance to the dissemination and interpretation of the international image.General Secretary Xi Jinping has pointed out the importance of optimizing the propaganda and interpretation of the CPC.In the face of new domestic and international situations,it is important and necessary to construct an international political party image that matches China’s comprehensive national strength and the actual performance of the CPC.Taking the party’s 20th National Congress,a major landmark event of the CPC as an entry point,and combining the Belt and Road Initiative,an important policy on international development and cooperation,and the concept of "a community with a shared future for mankind",an important proposition on international governance,this paper summarizes the international image of the CPC through reports of Arab mainstream media,namely Al-Ahram and Al-Masry Al-Yourn of Egypt,Al-Riyadh and Asharq Al-Awsat of Saudi Arabia,Al-Bayan and Al-Ittihad of United Arab Emirates,An-Nahar of Lebanon and Ad-Dustour of Jordan and Al-Jazeera of Qatar,using the qualitative and quantitative methods,and proposes feasible suggestions for its communication to the Arab world.By focusing on the communication of the major event and the dissemination of China’s initiatives and ideas which have entered into regular practice,this study explores the path of constructing the international image of the CPC in the new era.This paper consists of the following five parts:The introduction part includes research background and significance about this study,and sorts out domestic and foreign research results,and explains research problems and methods.The first chapter analyzes the coverage of the 20th National Congress by nine Arab media,including the number of reports,trends and main topics.The second chapter analyzes reports about the Belt and Road Initiative to classify and categorize the main topics.The third chapter analyzes relevant reports of nine Arab media on the concept of "a community with a shared future for mankind",including quantitative analysis of the basic information,such as the number and high-frequency words in the text.After that,I took the four frameworks of "a community with a shared future for mankind" as the classification standard to analyze the text of the report,so as to get a more comprehensive understanding of the spread of China’s ideas.Based on analysis mentioned above,the fourth chapter summarizes the present communication of the CPC’s international image and concludes strategies.This paper mainly obtains the news samples within valid time through keyword search and manual screening,and conducts content analysis and text analysis on them.The study founds that the developing countries of the Arab world have conducted extensive and profound exchanges and cooperation with China,and the relevant reports on 20th National Congress,the Belt and Road Initiative and concept of "a community with a shared future for mankind" are objective in general.The reports on the 20th National Congress pay attention to the significance of this event,objectively explain the deep meaning of the report of the 20th National Congress and the amendments to the Party Constitution,and a small number of reports distort and misinterpret the rise of China based on Western position,while the reports about the initiative and concept focus on the bilateral cooperation between China and Arab countries,recognition of the gradual improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength and international influence,and a small number of reports cite the views of Western parties to stigmatize the concept of peaceful development proposed by China.Based on the analysis of nine Arab media’s reports,it shows the basic recognition of the CPC by developing countries in the Arab world.Therefore,we should develop the support force of the third world countries,provide an effective path for the international image communication of the CPC through the practice of China’s ideas and initiatives,enhance the communication power and influence of the ruling party of China in the international community,and accelerate the construction of a discourse system with Chinese characteristics and a Chinese narrative system.
