A Case Study Of Urban Renewal In Zaozi Alley Of Jinniu District,Chengdu

Since the reform and opening up,China’s urban construction and economic development have made gratifying achievements.However,in the process of rapid urban development,some districts developed in the first place have gradually become run-down areas in the centre of a city.On February 13,2018,when General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Chengdu,he clearly proposed to build Chengdu into a city that fully embodies the new development philosophy and this marks the direction,makes the general requirements and points out the way of prospering and managing Sichuan in the new era.In March 2018,Chengdu put forward the development goal of " urban organic renewal " to accelerate the construction of a beautiful and livable park city.In order to meet the requirements of urban development in the new era and the new needs of the people for the urban living environment,urban renewal work should be transformed from the onesided emphasis on speed,scale and economic benefits to the emphasis on people-oriented harmonious and sustainable development.Urban renewal should start from the overall interests of the city and the needs of people’s production as well as living with the aim of comprehensively adjusting the overall function and layout of the city.In addition,at the time of paying attention tothe transformation and beautification of the material environment,urban renewal should also attach equal importance to the protection and optimization of the historical and cultural environment.Jinniu District of Chengdu has implemented the "Guidelines for Integrated Design of Urban Parks and Streets in Chengdu" in the active exploration and attempt of the urban renewal in Zaozi Alley,and this practice has achieved phased results which have been fully affirmed by party committees,governments and residents at all levels.Thesis takes the urban renewal of Zaozi Alley,Jinniu District,Chengdu as an example to carry out research.First,it summarizes the process and current situation of urban renewal development in China,and analyzes the problems faced by current urban renewal.Secondly,the main methods of urban renewal of Zaozi Alley in Jinniu District are sorted out,and the results obtained are summarized.Thirdly,an analysis framework is established based on the theory of urban organic renewal,and an in-depth analysis of the specific practices of the case is carried out from the four dimensions,namely renewal concept,form improvement,industry improvement,and co-construction,co-governance and sharing.Finally,the enlightenment of Zaozi Alley urban renewal is drawn: firstly,we must firmly establish the people-centered work concept;secondly,improving the block form is the basic requirement of urban renewal;thirdly,industrial upgrading is an important method of urban renewal;fourthly,community co-governance is the core element of urban renewal.The urban renewal of Zaozi Alley in Chengdu researched in the Thesis is typical and representative.By studying the relevant experience of Zaozi Alley urban renewal,the theoretical research on urban renewal can be further enriched,and it can provide important reference for urban renewal work in other areas with similar situations in China.
