| With the increasing trend of global integration,economic exchanges,summit meetings and cultural exchanges between countries have become more frequent,and national image has increasingly become a part of national soft power.The shaping and construction of a country’s image is inseparable from the mass media,and it is also inseparable from the many individuals living in this country.The era of national diplomacy has arrived.More and more foreign citizens record their daily life in China on social media,which has attracted the attention of domestic users and foreign media,and has become an important discourse resource for the construction and dissemination of national image.What is the image of China under the lens of foreigners? How is it presented? Does the creator’s foreign identity play a role in the dissemination process? How does national image inspire national identity? Focusing on these four questions,this paper selects the head account in Bilibili station whose name is "Jerry Kowal" as the research object,and uses three methods of content analysis,questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview to complete this research.The study found that the "Jerry Kowal " video created a relatively positive image of China in an objective and fair way of reporting.China under his lens is an image of a rising power with a booming economy,guaranteed people’s lives,and popular Chinese culture.The emotional attitude presented by the bullet screen text is highly consistent with the emotional attitude presented by the video text.Among them,there are two main ways of expressing national identity: one is to highly praise China’s development and achievements,and the other is to belittle and satirize "important others".Through the analysis of the data obtained from the questionnaire,the author finds that users’ trust in media content is positively correlated with national identity,which shows that content plays an important role in the construction and dissemination of national image.Only by sticking to the quality of content can we win the market and users.Subsequently,through semi-structured interviews with 15 target users,it was found that the creator’s Jewish-American identity allowed users to position him as a cultural messenger,and based on this,he compiled an imagination about the world.Although the creator has adopted certain strategies of "avoidance" and "shielding" in the communication,based on the consideration of the current international communication context and business context,users have not lowered their evaluation of him.This study found that the process from the shaping of national image to the strengthening of national identity has gone through a relatively complex process.First,use the perspective of "other" and comparative narrative to construct and strengthen the national image;then,complete the association of national identity based on individual life experience and video text;then,use the bullet screen text to create an atmosphere of online ceremony and co-presence,the strong patriotic feelings and national identity are strengthened and resonated,and finally the imagination of the country is completed.Based on the sorting and research of relevant cultural phenomena,the author summarizes and reflects on this topic.On the one hand,the Chinese government or relevant departments should attach great importance to such discourse resources,incorporate them into the country’s existing propaganda discourse system,and play a certain role in shaping and disseminating my country’s national image.The doubts about the inclusion of ideology and official discourse put forward some thoughts,in order to contribute a little to the shaping and dissemination of my country’s national image. |
