Revolution is the key word of the development of modern Chinese history, and the issue of revolution is an important issue that Mao Zedong constantly thinks and explores.Based on the relevant historical materials from the May Fourth Movement to the end of the Great Revolution, this paper studies Mao Zedong ’s early understanding of the Chinese revolution, including Mao Zedong ’s continuous acceptance of Marxism in the early exploration of the form, path and future practice of modern China ’s national salvation. After being transformed into a Marxist,Mao Zedong focused on gradually forming an understanding of the basic issues of the Chinese revolution and other important issues in combination with China ’s national conditions. This is the preliminary exploration of the Chinese revolution by the Chinese Communists represented by Mao Zedong, and also the preliminary exploration of the sinicization of Marxism. The main work of this paper is to describe clearly that Mao Zedong experienced the transformation from democratic reformism to Marxism in his youth.Secondly,it summarizes Mao Zedong ’s early understanding of the important issues related to the task, object, nature, motivation, leadership class and future of the Chinese revolution from 1919 to 1927,especially during the Great Revolution. Finally,it summarizes the characteristics and influence of Mao Zedong ’s early understanding of the Chinese revolution.By studying the above three issues, this paper mainly obtains two understandings : First,it is believed that Mao Zedong gradually formed the understanding of democratic reformism in the early stage of the vigorous development of the new culture movement in modern China.Specifically,he was initially influenced by Western capitalist democratic ideas. In the late period of the New Culture Movement(especially after the May Fourth Movement),he could take the initiative to think in combination with China ’s national conditions and put forward the improved democracy of the people. After entering Beijing for the second time,Mao Zedong gradually changed from an ideological Marxist and advocated the social revolution advocated by Marxism to solve the practical problems of the Chinese revolution.Secondly,it is believed that Mao Zedong ’s early understanding of the Chinese revolution shows that he adheres to his ideals and beliefs, always puts the people first, adheres to the principle of seeking truth from facts, pays attention to investigation and analysis, adheres to the concept of class struggle, and advocates the ideological characteristics of seizing power by armed struggle. From the perspective of historical materialism, social existence determines social consciousness. It is Mao Zedong ’s understanding of China ’s national conditions that has had a positive impact on the opening of a new path of the Chinese revolution and promoted the historical process of the new democratic revolution led by the Communist Party of China.
